Eddie Griffin was productive when he played. If it was not for his personal problems he would have been a stud... Drew Gooden esque at the least...
Dikembe Mutombo. But don't misunderstand me here. You said worst player with the longest career. I'm pretty sure nobody had a career as long as Dikembe did, so he wins (or loses I guess?) by default.
I do not think you can add Mutombo to any list that is entitled Worst player. He had a great career on and off court.
Koncak immediately came to my mind. If you are going to post in this thread you should include some stats, at least years played. I think the criteria should be: 1. Total minutes played over a 10 year minimum. or 2. Average points and rebounds over a 10 year minimum. i.e. Joe Wolf 11 seasons averaging 1.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. Jack Haley 11 Years, 3288 minutes or less than 4 minutes a game
Longest- Yes, Worst NBA Player -No. Not even close. He was an All-star and has the second most blocks in NBA History.
Didn't the Spurs & Bulls basically admit that they kept Jack Haley around to act as a buffer / go-between to Dennis Rodman, because he was the only one who got through to Rodman? I think he has to be the winner. Dude was pretty good until he had a nutritional supplement-caused seizure on the team plan once; almost killed him. Was never the same player after that (along with other injuries that slowed him).
Jack Haley is the NBA's worst All-Time Scott Hastings Holds the NBA record for most games in a row without a steal at 65 straight games. This spanned over a 3 year long period from 1989 - 1992. 11 years, 2.8 points per game 2.2 rebounds. .5 assists, .3 blocks
Minutes played probably is a fairer measurement than PPG or RPG. There are guys like Bruce Bowen that never put up stats, but it would be hard to argue he wasn't a good NBA Player for a while in his career. I would say something similar about Jason Collins-- don't have Bowen's rings, but he started and played plenty of minutes for a pretty good NJ team for a while, and was effective as a post-defender. Perhaps minutes played multipleid by team win for each year? A scrub would obvioulsy find a easier time getting burn on a bad team than he does on a good one.
I think Kareem had the longest of 20 years.. Shaq is about to have 18 Reggie Miller had 18 Mutombo had 18.
I would have to say either ryan bowen or mark madsen. There are alot of others but they have had long careers
indeed Jack Haley is the worst. he was never a starter, not in high school, junior college nor at UCLA. since his retirement from NBA, he has been employed as a NBA analyst by the local Fox station. it is laughabe to see him trying to portrait himself as a professional BB player. in many his so-called analyses, He would often say "when I was in the NBA, we'd do such and such"; to me that is like turning on the "No creditbilty" switch.
Worst NBA player is one thing... but longest career makes it interesting. A couple of people mentioned Charles Jones. He's got to be at the top of this list. Dude played until he was 40 - a 17 year career! Career: 726 games, 19.4 min/game, 2.5 points, 2.9 fouls. Yes, more career fouls than points. Nothing much else of note, but 4.5 boards and 1.6 blocks. That's what he brought to the game. He just didn't have much basketball talent, but stuck around because of his defense (and fouls). In his BEST season, he avgd. 6 points and 6 boards. But also go 2 1/2 blocks (and 3 1/2 fouls).
