The Kevin Ollie signing makes me curious as to whether there is ANYONE out there who has lasted longer with the least amount of basketball playing ability. If we take the ratio of (Basketball Ability) divided by (Number of Years Played) who is going to come up on top in modern NBA history (lets say, start with 1980)? One nominee, other than Kevin Ollie, that I can think of is Rick Brunson. I believe he lasted 10 years and had a guaranteed contract exactly once (and was waived in the middle of the season anyway, I recall). He had one or two nice games as a Rocket. I think he did about the same in his other stints... doing barely well enough to make the NBA cut because he was a "good characer guy."
Well, Ollie and Brunson can atleast dribble a basketball. Aren't mad dog and Ryan Bowen still in the league? Sean Marks has managed to only play in 187 games in 9 years, and that's only because the Hornets' rotation was so awful.
I think we've found a winner. Lyndsey Hunter and Clifford Robinson were always rotation players. Adonal Foyle could always play D and rebound. Calvin Booth does absolutely nothing.
Cliff was actually pretty good. I beleive he might even have an all star credit to his name in the 93-94 season. Avg'd 20.1pt/game and 6.7reb/game.
Let me add a few to the list : Jacque Vaugh , Malik Rose , Tyronn Lue , Anthony Johnson ,Devean George , Austin Croshere ,Tony Battie , Bruce Bowen , Lorenzen Wright.
Joe Kleine? Played 965 games over a career spanning 15 seasons. Career PER was 10.5. Played over 20 mpg only twice (in second and third year).
Yeah, I think guys that have scored 50 points in a game are automatically disqualified from this list.
