So to be honest, I consider worst choke job and most devastating loss to be 2 different things. Rockets/Mavs gets my vote for worst choke job, but the WS loss is definitely more devastating being 1 win away from the whole thing.

A single baseball game is essentially a random series of events. Losing by 40 in an NBA game 7? Choke City, though it wasn't on Yao nor McGrady.

Astros wish they could choke as hard as James Harden & the Rockets.

    James Harden : Clayton Kershaw

Lost by 40 to the Mavs
Lost by 39 to the Spurs WITHOUT Kawhi and Tony
    Damian Lillard .9
    Lost to Durant/Cousin-less Warriors team in G5(Durant exits with 2 minutes left in the 3rd; Harden takes one shot in the final 7 minutes);
G6 no Durant, no Cousins, Curry/Green in foul trouble, Curry scoreless at half; up 89-82 before Steph goes nuclear & wins the game
James Harden sets NBA playoff record for most turnovers in single game

Yalls beloved UH Olajuwon/Drexler teams. OG Choke City. And that one Oilers run we don't talk about.

The 05 Rockets team wasn't labeled a "Historic Offense" with 3 ace pitchers.

Don’t forget about our Game 7 choke job vs. the Lakers in 2009. I was at that game at Staples. It was brutal.

Astros was not a choke job ... just the outcome of a baseball game.

Misusing the word choke just minimizes what the Oilers did against Buffalo and we can never forget that

    Wrong.

Original Choke City was Hakeem/Thorpe 1994.

Hakeem/Drexler was 95, and had a much easier time despite the lower seed.

This. When I hear choke and nearly any playoff baseball outcome, I know it’s from a complete baseball noob. Choke is what my buddy txts me who watches 4 or 5 playoff games every couple years but doesn’t know what RBI stands for. Basketball folks should generally keep their mouth shut about baseball when they have no idea what the **** they’re talking about.

Rockets won first 2 on the road to take homecourt only to upchuck it when they came home. They got screwed on a call late in game 5, and won in a blowout in game 6. There was nothing in that series that could have predicted them losing by 40 I still say thats the worst choke job. That was also one of the few years Yao and T-Mac were healthy by the end of the season.

The Astros as talented as this team was didn't play that great through the entire post season. They struggled to get clutch hits against the Rays and Yankees. It wasn't a surprise it finally bit them in the ass it just sucks that it took 7 games for it to happen.

I think 4 home losses in a single championship series is a cumulative choke that is hard to swallow.

There's no way around losing by 40 points.

[However there was also The Finley Call]
