We could do something like this: 1. Trade most of NGs for Harkless (or similarly paid and valued player) 2. Trade Anderson and rest of NGs for Anthony 3. Trade Harkless for Courtney Lee

Portland loves Harkless, how do you suppose we trade non guaranteed contracts for him, or a similarly valued player?
Maybe a S&T for Ersan Ilyasova (ATL) or Nikola Mirotic (CHI) or Maareese Speights (LAC)??? I would probably be happy about the 1st two and OK with the 3rd player.
Well, Portland is paying a boatload for a pretty mediocre roster. Figured that saving the $30 MM that Harkless is owed + reducing their luxury tax bill might be appealing to them. The broader point I'm making is that we can use our NGs to get a player ~$11 MM. We can then flip said player for Courtney Lee (makes $11.7 MM), who isn't much use to a rebuilding Knicks team. Harkless is young enough to to be a part of said rebuild. Alternatively, we could trade for a $11 MM bum with a short contract, who the Knicks would prefer to paying Lee for 3 more years. It's similar to what the Cavs did for Mozgov (make a series of moves to get the 125% for a larger salaried player)
This would make a ton of sense! Do you think the NG's are enough for Harkless? Great deal for NY if they can unload Lee and add anderson and Harkless. Lee would fit in nicely with this squad.

We can add another player with a guaranteed contract to make larger trades work, but the maximum cap-reducing value to the other team of the Morey OG, ghetto-TPE is $9.75m
