Luis talks about the 22 game winning streak, the voided Chris Paul trade, his love for the city of Houston. http://art19.com/shows/vertical starts around the 30 minute mark
Love Luis Scola Will always be a Houston Rocket. Dude was not the most skilled but made up for it with grit and passion every time he wore that Rockets jersey. I wish we had more players like him in today's NBA
Just finished listening to the podcast. What a great interview. Luis sounds like he could and would be a Morey disciple in the front office if given the chance. Still remember the 22 game winning streak.. Skip, Landry, Brooks, Luis, Shane, Dikembe were all playing out of their minds.. Oh what could have been without the two superstar injuries..
Not the most skilled? He was incredibly skilled and not very athletic...skill is what allowed him to make such an impact as a 29 year old rookie.
Great listen, thanks for posting. Scola is 100% class. Don't know if he could ever be part of a front office management like he wishes, but wish him luck if opportunity ever came for him
I stand corrected. I meant not the most athletic but was typing too fast. Definitely skilled. In fact I would say he had the best low post game out of the players in the Maury regime.
haha, okay. I was wondering if you were perhaps suffering from early onset dementia... You know who modeled their post game after Scola? Spoiler Motiejunas
And don't forget Steve Novak's "ONLY BASKET OFF THE GAME--Worrell" game-winning 3 vs the Kings or the streak stops at 7 games.
One of my favorite Rockets ever. Sounds like he would be interested in moving into a front office position, especially under Morey. That would begreat, to bring him back into the organization.
I would love for Morey to bring Luis back, if he could swing it. Scola is making around $5 million this season. I look at Brewer's contract, then think about Luis being with the team instead, and it's enough to make a grown man weep. Anyone have a tissue?
I miss Luis, he brought it every night for the Rockets. He brought a lot of versatility to the power forward position. You could put him in the low post, picknpop, could pass well and surprisingly ran the fast break well for a big who really wasn't known for any crazy athleticism.
Remember when he came back to Toyota Center for the first time to play against the Rockets? The Rockets put up a video tribute playing the song Home by Phillip Phillips. He kept his house in Houston area. Now we know why. ...'Cause I’m going to make this place your home
