Portland really bought their own press going to the conference finals last season on that weak side of the bracket. They aren't a threat. Somebody has to be quality playoff fodder though, why not them.
At least his talent/performance on the court appears to put him in max territory. Maybe I don't pay enough attention the the Blazers, but I simply don't see McCollum being worth $33 million a year. That's crazy, IMO.
Excellent move regardless of what most people here think of the Blazers as contenders. McCollum had a solid season and was very good in the playoffs. 3 year extension is well deserved and will keep him on the same timeline as Lillard. Most teams would jump at the opportunity of getting a player like McCollum especially at a very reasonable price considering what guys like Tobias Harris are making these days.
A lot of players aren't worth their salaries. What's the alternative? Letting Eric Gordon walk and replacing him with Ben McLemore? Takes him through his age 28-32 seasons. Good for him.
Blazers had to do this. That or hope they could wrestle a disgruntled star from another team via trading McCollum.
Remember when some Blazers trolls here wanted Melo to form their own Big 3? You got it now b****es.... BIG THREE YEARS
Eric Gordon is worth 18-22 million or more. Not sure anyone is willing to pay that for a longer contract. That should be another story. Mainly that 3pt contest title guarantees him that he is worth more than 12 million. And he had a good defensive showing in the playoffs last season. That is what he is worth for now under that crazy CBA.
