But I thought all 29 other teams would love to have a GM like Daryl Morey.

Daryl Morey doesn't know how to draft late, even Clint is raw, as a 25th pick.

    Marcus Morris over Kawhi Leonard

The Raptors are the Rockets rejects, look at them now. Daryl would've gotten Kyle Lowry back during FA, but they passed him up, when Kyle was interested.

Masai Ujiri drafted and developed Paskal Siakam as a 27th pick. Drafted Fred VanVleet

Morey drafted Clint Capela late and Chandler Parsons and Montrezl Harrell in the second round. He traded for guys like Harden, Lowry and Goran Dragic when they were considered bench players. He signed Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker to cheap deals. He brought in undrafted guys like Chuck Hayes and Gary Clark and Jeremy Lin. He brought Patrick Beverley back to the NBA from overseas.

It's absolutely crazy to me how little credit some of you guys give Daryl Morey. Masai Ujiri is a hell of a GM; nobody is denying that, but Daryl is easily a top 5 GM and I just think anyone who can't see that is delusional.

If Daryl is so great why did he draft Marcus Morris over Kawhi

    Passes up on

    Marc Gasol
    Joey Dorsey over DeAndre Jordan
Terrence Jones, Royce White over Draymond Green

Clint Capela is exactly the same player as a rookie just more strength and stamina, what now he is getting traded.

I heard Morey's model said Anthony Bowie should be drafted over Adonis Jordan.

    What a fool.

Gasol, Jordan, and Green were all second round picks. Gasol was even a late second round pick and had man boobs. Sounds like just about everybody passed up on them at least once.

Who's a good GM to you?

This is such a simple minded argument. We could do that for EVERY SINGLE GM in the league. All of them. I said he's a top 5 GM. I did not say he's infallible. Nor did I claim he had a crystal ball. To judge Morey based solely on his worst mistakes, particularly by citing really exceptional examples of players who far exceeded ANYONE's expectations is just silly.

But if that's the game we're playing let's play it! The Spurs have been generally regarded as the best ran organization in the league since the drafting of Tim Duncan. Time and time again they've drafted gems and made shrewd free agent decisions despite being in a small market that hasn't often succeeded in drawing big name free agents. More important, they've effectively had the same front office since the drafting of Tim Duncan. So what does it look like if I play your game with the Spurs?

Greg Popovich and RC Buford really need to look at what Masai is doing! If they were any good at their jobs explain to me why they did the following:

The year after they drafted Tim Duncan #1 overall (obvious choice that they really deserve no credit for) was 1998. The Spurs chose Felipe Lopez with the 24th pick when Al Harrington, Rashard Lewis, Cuttino Mobley were still on the board.

In 2000, they drafted Chris Carrawell TWO SPOTS BEFORE FUTURE ALL-STAR MICHAEL REDD!

in 2002 they drafted John Salmons and traded him to Philadelphia. Future All-Star Carlos Boozer was on the board. Matt Barnes and Rasual Butler also got picked later (not by the Spurs). Instead they drafted Luis Scola late in the second round. That'd be a FANTASTIC pick EXCEPT they eventually traded him to Houston for the Greek T-Mac/Vassillis Spanoulis.

2006? They traded away all their picks and couldn't pick future All-Star Paul Milsap #47. Jesus christ I'd rather have Marcus Morris than nothing at all.

2007. They picked both Tiago Splitter AND Marcus Williams over Marc Gasol.

2008. They picked Goran Dragic in the second round and immediately traded him away for MALIK HAIRSTON!

2011. With the 29th pick of the draft they chose Corey Joseph. The 30th pick that year? JIMMY "YOU EFFING NEED ME!" BUTLER! But here is the kicker. THEY WENT FOR THE DOUBLE WHAMMY! With the 59th pick they selected Adam Hanga. You don't know who Adam Hanga is. I don't know who Adam Hanga is. Adam Hanga's mom doesn't know who he is. But who went 60? Future all-star/all NBA and mvp candidate Isaiah Thomas.

2014. Picked Kyle Anderson over MVP candidate Nikola Jokic.

2015. FINALLY picked Nikola. Only it was Nikola Milutinov (who?!?!). He hasn't played in an NBA game. Seven picks later even incompetent Houston GM Durl Mawrae took Montrezl Harrell.

And of course throughout all of this the Spurs were the winningest team in basketball and won 4 rings. Sure, they made mistakes but they also got more things right than they did wrong. Morey hasn't won a championship YET but he makes a lot of incredible moves and we've been right there the past two years. When he makes bad moves he course corrects quickly. We're lucky to have him and I hope you understand how ridiculously flawed your argument is now.

You wrote all that but forgot the small fact that Spurs have won FIVE (5) CHAMPIONSHIPS in the last 20 years, 4 of them with RC Buford as GM. NO ONE has any right to question their GM

Meanwhile for all Daryl has done (and despite being the GOAT of GM's around here) and and his tweets about how great the Rockets are, Rockets have reached the NBA finals grand total of ZERO times in his tenure of over a decade

I didn't forget that. I expressly stated they won 4 championships. That is exactly why I chose them as an example. Because it illustrates the point that even the best organizations make mistakes. To point to Daryl's biggest failings (and include some that nobody who didn't have a crystal ball would have predicted) and say it's proof he's incompetent is absurd. You have to look at the whole picture.

I don't know how you read what I wrote and didn't figure out that is my entire point.

How many GM's have lasted at the same team since Morey took over at the Rockets 12 years back without failing to deliver a Championship?

Oh. So you want to fire him because though our team is likely the second best in the league right now and has been for several years we have the unfortunate luck of existing in the time of one of the all-time greatest teams. Okay. In that case, who would you prefer be our GM?
