    I feel Morey would not have traded for CP3 when he could have signed him unless he didn't give up any asset needed for a PG deal...

    Sending Ariza and Gordon plus picks works under the cap.

    Ariza's $7 mill comes off the books next summer and they still have Gordon under a friendly contract.

    You then pray that either Wade or Melo gets bought out.

    Ariza was apparently part of the recruitment team for Chris Paul. The two are very close and he's part of why Paul wanted to come here. He's very likely a lock to be here still.

    Yes. We won't be renouncing him at this point so we can either offer him the standard raise or part of the MLE. (Hopefully just standard raise)

    I think you've got the right idea with Ryno somehow returning an asset + Capela + picks as the holding deal waiting on the Celtics.

    Paul/Gordon
    Harden/Gordon
    George/Ariza
    Melo/Ariza
    MLE/Nene

    Is probably the pipe dream plan for Morey.

    So true. If you can acquire George, you don't haggle too much over Capela. You get these 3 guys together, and surround them with whatever the hell you can. If that means lacking the depth to compete with the Warriors, then so be it for 1 season. Being as talented as the Warriors in 1 year is easily a better path than any other team can dream of but the Cavs. The Celtics will be committed to what they have and can get there is a star emerges among their young guys, but there are practically no more superstars for them to acquire.

    There is a limited quantity of superstars. Everything else is negotiable.

    I'm with you except for the "so be it for 1 season." You have to treat every season like THE season now because Chris Paul is 32 years old.
