Will the warriors try to defend james the same way ?

We need Capela to constantly be aware of where the defense is. Last year he didnt play well against these guys because while he was staring at Harden driving to the basket the extra help defender was moving into position to get a body on him. That took the lob and the offensive board away.

If Capela is aware of where they are coming from and he constantly moves around, then he will play great. If the Warriors can get a body on him every possession, then he will be a non-factor.

And if he is a nonfactor then that makes Harden much easier to defend going to the basket.

 

1. If Harden is truly 'unstoppable', people wouldn't have these concerns in the first place. This is proof that he still got some work to do. For the love of god, develop some midrange game. Jazz and Bucks won't dare to employ that doggystyle defense on Durant and Curry, because they will kill them in the midrange.

2. I think the Warriors will definitely look to emulate that defense when the series is on the line. Harden shot horribly against the Jazz in this series and the Bucks during the RS, so the formula for stopping Harden is kinda already out there. The only thing that might prevent the Warriors from employing the doggystyle defense is pride.

 

I'll find it absolutely hilarious if Harden busts out the midrange jumper in this 2nd round. If he shoots more midrange jumpshots in 2nd round than the 1st, then he absolutely trolled.

 

yes but they will be wearing extra large strap-ons. harden will have triple-ply sports underwear. it's all about adjustments.

 

Serious question. Why doesn't James just spot up and shot when he has someone guarding him from behind? I'd think it's pretty hard to get all ball from that position

 

Nobody in NBA history is truly unstoppable nor will they ever be. I think Harden has a midrange game but the organizational pressure not to take it is so strong that he doesn't look for it.

 

It's actually pretty easy to get a clean block from behind if you time it correctly.

 

Warriors have too much pride and are way too arrogant and smug to try a gimmick defense. If you see them do this crazy behind the back defense, then you know the Rockets and Harden has them shook.

 

Warriors can't/won't run that defense, but they can give the Rockets fits because Draymond is good at nullifying Capela.

big difference between Gobert and Looney, Bogut, or even Draymond when it comes to contesting shots like Harden’s floater

GS is giving up a huge amount of points to the Clippers. Could u ever see Milwaukee or Utah giving up 120+ to the Clippers multiple times in a series?

 

The other thing is that the primary Utah "Butt defenders" (Rubio, Neale, Crowder) weren't really being relied on to be primary scorers. If Golden state is going to do it, it's likely going to have to be done by Thompson and Curry quite a bit - that's a lot of mental energy for them to expedn if they have to produce at the other end, particulary for Curry.

Curry certainly can't do it, he'd be done by the 1st half

 

What concerns me is the stat of Utah getting the most wide open looks out of any playoff team. You do that against golden state and we will be fish in a barrel.

 

The Warriors don't have Rudy Gobert or anyone capable of defending the rim. Look at what Montrez is doing to them.

That's why the Jazz made it harder to attack the basket.
