I predict that Morey acquires a second round pick if only to lessen the negative fallout from trading away their first.
I'm going to agree with Bima from the podcast and say it's most likely they try to play the UDFA market, like Gary Clark. There were 100 early registrants to the NBA draft with only 60 spots. There will be some raw prospects floating around.
the draft is a constant disappointment for the last decade Morey's been GM. There was one year i actually had legitimate elation ...the year we had 3 first round picks: Lamb, Royce White, and Terrance Jones. They looked great. I was convinced we had something. Man ...was i wrong. I have given up all hope of the Rockets ever dominating the draft or making unexpected draft day moves. Apparently we only chase veteran stars.
Just guess earn last 2year luxury tax profit for 2 second round picks today? Don’t use 2year Full MLE for 2 second round picks today? Cash in cash out method Rivers and faried gone, need depth. I watched video today, tilman said he wanted to spend big money 18 months ago.
Don’t hold your breath. Even if we did, Dan Tony wouldn’t play him outside of garbage minutes/blowout games. I expect some undrafted scrubs to fill the bench though. We need some cheerleaders
we've had a lot of luck on the UDFA model. No real reason to move away from that when we need dudes on tiny contracts.
2 year luxury tax profits are 8 million. From 31 to 35 pick is worth 4 million dollars each. Why not buy 40th pick? It’s cheaper. Really needs depth.
the warriors buy picks every year. good talent locked into cheap deals is the way to have a deep team. meanwhile Tillman over here pinching pennies.
