What do you guys think of the new hack-a rules? I like them, especially since we have Capela who has looked worse in FT shooting this season. I just wish they changed them sooner because it really would have helped the Rockets with Dwight. Here are the 3 new changes: 1) Away from the play fouls in the last 2 minutes of all quarters are 1 free throw and the ball (not just the 4th quarter). 2) Inbound fouls are 1 FT and the ball. 3) Jumping on a players back on a FT rebound is now a flagrant. The question is what happens if a team commits to the hack-a before the final 2 minutes of a quarter? I think these rule changes help, but if a team is down 15 with 7 minutes to go, they will probably still hack Capela forcing us to take him out or make him shoot free throws.
don't care for it. rules shouldn't have changed really imo. I'm just a firm believer if you have a flaw and you're exposed so be it. the system shouldn't change to hide you just because you can't shoot Ft's. If you are hurting your own team because you can't step up and shoot FT's then you shouldn't be in the game at that time regardless
#1 is what has been proposed a lot on this board. #2 is not a new rule. #3 ... hmm, I remember JVG suggested this tactic more than a few times during end game situations. They still can "unintentionally" foul the guy, just can't do it without him going for the rebound, and the refs might not call it if the foul was not obvious enough.

I remember a game where the Spurs did it all game and the refs didn't know the rules and they let SA get away with hacking Dwight to send him to the line.
