Austin Croshere. The Pacers are quoted as saying''We have no information regarding our head coaching position and we don't anticipate any information in the near future,'' MaryKay Hruskocy said. ''We don't have anything, and we don't have any date. That is from our president (Donnie Walsh). He has no timetable. Whenever it happens, it happens.''

It seems to me that the lack of a coach does have an impact. A fairly large impact on a team's free agents. Austin Croshere is unsure of his role next year with the Pacers, rumors are swirling around that he plays mediocre defense, and surely he believes he is ready to be starter. Not having a coach leaves his future up in the air. Is he a starter, or isn't he? The Rockets could step in and promise him something that Indiana could never promise, which is, of course, the role of starting SF or PF.

    Rudy could pull it off.

I can't believe I've got no posts here. It was right under your noses and you couldn't even see it.

PSJ, I don't think the lack of a coach is going to help us tremendously. Changing coaches might make some players wonder what their role will be in the next season. However, Croshere played so well in the Finals, that I think he should feel secure that he'll get solid minutes (though perhaps not a starter's role) in Indiana. Also, it's always nicer to play for a contender.

It *is* a help but may not be much
Smits may Retire, Perkins *is* retiring
    I think this helps more
because Collier is better for them in Trade.

They will be weak at Center
Strong at PF [Davis, bender, harrington]

Rocket River, Sam Perkins will be back mark my words, He will be back to defend the title. I dont think Austin will leave after all we have been through last year. He knows after getting jobbed against the Lakers all he wants to do is back back to the 2001 playoffs with the rest of the guys Mark, Reggie, Dale, Jalen, Travis, Rik, Derrick and Sam. Instead of worrying about Austin we should have concentrated on getting some quality players instead of those 2 stiffs we picked up in the draft.
