This guy for some reason brings it when he starts but is pretty awful coming off the bench. I really hope he can adjust.
Maybe he's just really nervous? And all that bad energy builds up on the bench? I donno, Im just spitballing.
Whatever it is, he is getting the chance of a lifetime and he has been mostly throwing it away. His one huge strength and he can't even help there. I want him to get better because Mike D has given him the longest leash ever for a young player.
He gets plenty of open Jumpers with the bench, he just doesn't make the shots when he isn't starting. This is just like Road Ryno, or Lou Williams having a bad game if he misses his first shot. I don't think BMac will adjust. It's one of those weird phenomena you find around the league.
I think McLemore is one of those players that easily loses confidence in his game and plays poorly. He needs to be surrounded with people that will constantly keep him positive for him to play well. He just isn't built mentally tough.
Just give him time. He's over 35% from 3 for his career. He's currently in one of the worst shooting stretches of his career. He's up to 31% now and I would expect his #'s to at least reach his career averages as the season progresses. BMac can shoot whether he is starting or coming in from the bench. Just give him time. He is one player that we need to be patient with. MDA sticking with him during down times has to do wonders for his confidence as well.
Screw it. Start him. House and EG off the bench would be an elite 2nd unit. I wouldn’t hate it. doubt it happens tho.
Maybe even a couple easy baskets gets guys like this going. Then they are like a hungry wolf when they get an open shot
He plays well with James. You watch the passes harden gives him they are all in his stride to launch a three bomb.
Put House and Gordon in the second unit. When starting, he is left wide open with Harden and Westbrook. When coming off the bench, I think he feels he needs to do more.
