Nobody ever asked Dream to play behind Cato. Dream was going to be the starter if he stayed in Houston.

At the time, it made sense for SF3 to be the first option so that he could learn to be the Franchise player.

At least Dream never quit on his team during a playoff run.

Neither do I. I have more man love for the Dream than you do for Max.

hey lots of Rockets left the Rockets organization on a sour note.

    1. Hakeem - remember at whole foods, he told a clutchfan he's out.
    2. Mario - wanted to leave because he didnt want to be traded for Damon Weedamire
    3. Sam and Robert - was angry that they were traded (Sam still talks about it)
    4. Rudy T - hmmm losing his job after cancer and then going to the LAKERS?!
    5. Calvin Murphy - cause he had too many kids??

We all know this is Les Alexanders fault.
I blame him for the crap uniforms, Pippen, and the current season and for Ralph Sampson ( he should have hired him to help Yao out earlier, plus they need to help Ralph out with his finances)

Also, Vernon was well loved by his teammates, unlike Scottie Pippen.

Kenny still metions Vernon once in awhile on TNT as one the leaders of the championship team.

I swear, if I hit the lotto or inherit money, I would buy the Rockets from Les.

    1. hire Rudy T
    2. hire Calvin Murphy
    3. hire Mario Elie
    4. commision a MASSIVE PORTRAIT of that 1st and 2nd championship team at Toyota Center
    5. hire Turbo back
    6. force the NBA to put out CLUTCH CITY and CLUTCH CITY2 on DVD with additional features
    7. send the A-TEAM to bust Vernon and Ralph out of the slammer and give him jobs with Rockets to mentor and coach our players.

I would make CLUTCHFANS, the official website of the ROCKETS.

thats impossible dude. I have the Hakeem Uncle Ben's Rice box on my refrigerator.
And I have Vernon Maxwell magnets on my fridge.

Don't EVEN CHALLENGE ME on my love for the old Rockets.

    Out of the ruins
    Out from the wreckage
Can't make the same mistake this time
    We are the children
    the last generation
We are the ones they left behind
And I wonder when we are ever gonna change it
Living under the fear till nothing else remains

    We don't need another hero
We don't need to know the way home
All we want is life beyond the thunderdome

Looking for something we can rely on
There's got to be something better out there
Love and compassion, their day is coming
All else are castles built in the air
And I wonder when we are ever gonna change it
Living under the fear till nothing else remains
    All the children say

    We don't need another hero
We don't need to know the way home
All we want is life beyond the thunderdome

What do we do with our lives
    We leave only a mark
Will our story shine like a life
    Or end in the dark
    Give it all or nothing

I was one of the biggest 'max' fans until he quit on us.

I'll never forget what he did for us, the amazing shots, the true courage and heart, never giving up...he was a big part of the heart of a champion... but I'll also never forget him what he did and how he did it.

Unfortunately, I'll remember his accomplishments here no more than I'll remember him being interviewed for a quote after his abandoning us, while the Rox were in the playoffs and he was on the Golf Course, talking about how much money he was making every time they won a game with a smile on his face (I think he even mentioned that he'd get a ring if they won, but not sure about that, regardless, he did get one.)

He put his pride above the team, and dishonored Rudy and the others, and did it with a smug selfish smile on his face, seemingly proud of his lack of commitment and ability to profit from it. I can't forgive him for that, but I haven't thought about it in a long time. It didn't make me forget him, but nearly. That was that.

His attitude ruined what was left of his career. I could care less about his off court antics in regard to my opinion of him as a basketball player. That didn't change what I know that he DID contribute, but quitting on the team when they were fighting for a second ring because his 'pee pee' hurt, and then mouthing off about it on the golf course... rubbing the Rox nose in how he'd benefit from their success regardless of his giving up on the team, TO ME, exemplifies what's wrong with a lot of players in the NBA, other sports, and Society today in general... ME ME ME.

What's this got to do with Tupac? I don't think they look alike, but so what if they do? Scratch that, too much has been posted about that, and I don't wanna know why such a bizarre and random parallel would be drawn.

If they do make a movie about him (laughable) maybe HE could play the part... or at least sign up to with guaranteed money and then quit before finishing because he doesn't like being told what to do. My guess is he's got time.... and could probably use the money at this point. Just a guess.

In regard to the original spirit of the post... is anyone amazed that Wiki would contain biased information? It's a nice resource occasionally, but to get worked up about it's accuracy or bias is to ignore the problem with the instantaneous and unofficial nature of information gotten from the net. The fact that you countered the information with a one-sided perspective of your own just validates this.

    Legends In The Making
In the stands, UCLA legends Bill Walton, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Reggie Miller sat glum-faced. Longtime Gator fans and former players were arm-in-arm, rocking back and forth. Many fought back tears. Vernon Maxwell would have been there, too, had he been permitted to cross state lines.

    My favorite old Rockets:

    1. Hakeem
    2. Mad Max
    3. Cassell
    4. Elie
    5. OT
    6. Kenny

Nowadays it seems like you need 2 Superstars, or a group of Allstars (Detriot/Spurs) to win a Championships, but we won it with HAKEEM and a bunch of players that fit their role that would NEVER make it on the Allstar team. Spurs has TPaker, Ginobili,TD Lakers had Shaq/Kobe Detriot all Allstars pretty much, Jordan/Pippen, Dream/Clyde in 95'

but that 1994 Rockets was special

Max deserves the Nobel Peace Prize:

He's just trying to get a peace of the pie

people try just want a peace of him

so he's always carrying it in his car, so if if they try, he'll pull out his peace

dont get me wrong, hakeem was the best player i ever saw, but during the championship years and the year before the rockets won the 1st title, maxwell must've hit around 5-10 game winning shots and buzzer beaters during the regular season each year....he also hit that big 3 against the clippers that basically won the rockets the series in game 5 the year before houston won its first title...if he hadn't hit that shot, the team might've gotten broken up

You hit it dead on! When the going got tough, that's when Max got going!

I got something to tell you
    I got something to say
I'm gonna put this dream in motion
Never let nothing stand in my way
    When the going gets touch
    The tough get going

I'm gonna get myself 'cross the river
That's the price I'm willing to pay
I'm gonna make you stand and deliver
And give me love in the old-fashion way

    Woooh

    Darlin', I'll climb any mountain
    Darlin', I'll do anything

Ooh, can I touch you (can I touch you)
And do the things that lovers do
Ooh, wanna hold you (wanna hold you)
I gotta get it through to you, oooh

    When the going gets tough
    The tough get going
    When the going gets rough
    The tough get rough
    Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
    Ooooh baby

    I'm gonna buy me a one-way ticket
    Nothin's gonna hold me back
Your love's like a slow train coming (slow train coming)
And I feel it coming down the track (woh)

    Darlin', I'll climb any mountain
    Darlin', I'll do anything
Ooh (ooh) can I touch you (can I touch you)
And do the things that lovers do
Ooh, (ooh) wanna hold you (wanna hold you)
I gotta get it through to you (ooh)
'Cos when the going gets tough
    The tough get going
    When the going gets rough
    The tough get rough

    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
    Wooh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

    Darlin', I'll climb any mountain
    Darlin', I'll swim any sea
Darlin', I'll reach for the heaven
    Darlin', with you lovin' me
    Oooh (oooh)

Oooh, can I touch you (can I touch you)
And do the things that lovers do (can I touch you)
Oooh, wanna hold you (wanna hold you)
I gotta get it through to you

    When the going gets tough
    Going gets tough
    Going gets rough

its the responsibility of all Rockets fans to defend
against any attack on the Rockets championship years.

its not an opinion, it scientific fact, that the 1994 team will beat the crap out of the Spurs, Mavericks, Miami or the Pistons.

Otis Thorpe would own Ben Wallace and D up Duncan.

Max would clamp Dwade, Hamilton and Ginobili.
I would love to see Max go off on Ginobili after he does one of his stupid flops.

Horry was very athletic that year. That Thorpe, Dream, and Horry frontline

with Mario/Vernon could clamp down anyone. We're better than the Pistons.
You couldnt score on Dream, look what happened to Rod Strickland.

If God drove down the lane, Dream would blocked the crap of it and Otis would have rebounded and threw a bullet outlet pass to Vernon for an easy layup.

    Rockets 1994 > God

Way to represent. People try to discredit the Rockets championship years. Thats why I'm so proud of Robert and Sam. Everytime Horry hits another winner or dunks on Richard Hamilton or pops a 3 in Rasheeds face, or when Sam outshines Kobe, they ADD MORE CREDIT TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
San Antonio and the Lakers owe us
    for Horry and Mario

Take away from last year and take Mario away, and the Spurs would never have won.

I want Sam to get his. Also I wished Otis could get another ring.
He was such an awesome player and he was so humble, he makes Yao look like Terrell Owens.

I remembered Maxwell said "Hero or zero" on why he likes to take the last shot.
