I know, we lost and it sucks. I've seen tons of "you'll never win playing this way!" posts saying we need to change up our offense.

Here's the thing, we aren't good enough to play a different offense and we don't have a way to add enough pieces to play a different offense.

You guys want them to play more like the Warriors, a team that's more talented. Why would you want to be a worse version of a team you need to beat? The Rockets are hunting for an advantage that lets them beat a team more talented than they are and they've sniffed victory two straight years. No other team has even challenged the Warriors and we've done it BECAUSE of this system.

I do think they need to speed up again, but the idea that we should play an entirely different system going forward is doing what every other team does against the Warriors; punt.

Oh ya? ISO dribble 20 secs is the best we can do?

They need to add some mid-range shots to the game plan. There has to be some spots that are effective from that range to shoot from. Too much variance with mostly 3s late in the game.

Also MDA needs to be on the hot seat for this series

I acknowledged they need to speed up. I was on that train last year before everyone else.

The right offense to beat the Jazz ...

Come on now, 90% ISO ... not fxxking clue where to go on the play but making shiat up on the fly or draw a foul ...

The only right offense to me is when Gordon is involved and Chris makes some nice pass.

Other than that, you can't be serious this is the right offense.

It's like an ugly wife .. just because you are married so long, doesn't you can do better.

The Rockets scored 113 points tonight. The offense wasn’t the issue. They lost because they allowed a Kevin Durant-less Warriors team to score 118, their highest point total of the series.

This offense is too predictable, which makes defending it so easy.

We don't attempt any fast break points. I cringed hard when we had a 3 on 1 late yet everyone spotted up for a 3 that bricked. Stupid play that's been ingrained into our players by Moreyball.

    LOL

dribble out the shotclock and shoot contested 3s.

GS is the greatest 3pt shooting team in NBA history. Instead of shooting even more 3s than us, why do they have the 2nd most midrange? They aren't stupid and know you can't be a one trick pony

THIS. This Rockets series amounts to an inability to get stops when it counted. Houston had bad habits from start of the season and while they showed great improvement, there was very rarely a time when all 5 of our defenders were locked in. You can’t make mistakes boxing out or botching switches against a team like the warriors game after close game and expect to survive. Bottom line is we didn’t deserve to beat GS.

You say this is still the "right offense" yet you acknowledge a part of the offense that accounts more most of our possessions is wrong?

No, this offense doesn't work in the post season. It works well in the regular season when teams have to play different teams every other night and can't hone in on tendencies but it doesn't work in the playoffs.

I mean it did work though. The Rockets didn't lose tonight because they couldn't score, they lost because they couldn't stop the Warriors. Just like Game 5. Their defense couldn't stop Steph in either game. That's what killed them. Taking more midrange shots doesn't change that.

    Hmmmmmmm......
Kinda how like O’Brien kept running Miller up the middle on every 1st down.
It’s not the system, it’s the personnel.

    And the coach

Every time the rockets got up , and got a stop, they did something stupid like turn the ball over (which turned into points on the other end), get a stupid offensive foul, miss a makeable shot, etc.

They got a stop and had a ****ing 3 on 1 and wound up with no points.

    Disagree. Whole heartedly.

Our stars both had games today that should normally get us a win. The difference? 4th quarter offensive execution was time again too predictable and did not deliver. We ignored it in games 3&4 because we won, but those easily could have been losses. When teams decide to really clamp down, our offense just isn't good enough, especially with an aging CP3 that can't break down in the isolation anymore.

Outside of Capela dunks, we never seem to be able to get any "easy" baskets off player and man movement. Everything is a difficult drive, in isolation, or a 3 pointer.

Also, our stars have way too much pressure on them. The Warriors got by with one of their stars going scoreless the first half! Wth, if Harden went scoreless in any half we would be assuredly down by a large amount.

Do we need better role players, sure, but you can always make that argument. But the offensive philosophy has not succeeded in late 4th quarter playoff games against elite defensive teams and that has to change.

Not so cleverly disguised Harden is still “our man” thread. We can’t play any other way with Harden being the guy here. We can’t add other pieces cause we got him the best help available. Conversely, it’s been proven we will NEVER win with Harden as the main guy.

He’s had so many golden opportunities to breakthrough and change his legacy. Window has shut. Party’s over. It’s time to blow it up.

I agree, but still think we already have the personnel to play with a slightly faster pace with some more off ball movement in the 4th quarter.

Honestly sometimes they're just pissing away 5-10 seconds lazily. I don't have a problem with the ISO's, but they can get into it sooner and give the opponent less time to set up and think of all the possibilities.
