It's not the negativity. It's expectations. One game away from winning it all, Harden is having a historical year ... the bar is high. That's why.
Nailed it. It's a common occurrence over the years for the Rockets to get complacent and either leave teams within striking distance or get lazy, sloppy, slow, whatever and let teams come back (frequently in the 3rd quarter). One or two times would be an anomaly you brush off. But it happens a lot, and it's like a festering sore that never fully heals. That's what's frustrating: it's a risk with any Rockets game. Show us some killer instinct, boys. That's what it takes to win in the playoffs.
I think it’s more disappointment then anything.naturally if you care more the losses tend to sting more especially in the manner they gave up a huge lead.Obviously the first half showed how good this team can be but the second half showed if Harden dosent go god mode and save our butts like he has all season the other guys are just not getting it done. Overall with Clint back I think we can take OKC in 6 in a series.
Expectations never get met. Noone ever thought the rockets would win a championship let alone two-peat. No one thought okc would win Rockets were expected to win. Then they started playing not to lose.
LOL. Here we go again. Last season we were: - 2-1 regular season vs GSW - Best record in the West - 1st Seed in the West - We were up on GSW 3-2 in the WCF and had our foot on their throats until CP's hammy went out. But yeah, MDA's system doesn't work. We also had a 90% winning percentage when James, CP and Clint all started together. If no one has noticed, we've been without Clint for like the past 10 games.
Nobody is saying D'Antoni's system doesn't work. His system is fine. His game management? His in-game adjustments? His use of timeouts? That stuff is atrocious at this point. And we need to stop talking about last season. This team isn't coming close to last season. Completely different team.
People want to see some progress at this stage of the season, that is why a loss like this hurts and results in some negativity. We've made excuses about health and missing guys, but CP and EG are back. Sure Clint is out, House has been foreclosed on, but at this stage you can see who is for real and who has overcome that slow start to the season that seemingly the entire West suffered from. A loss like this following a horrible trade deadline is the reason for the negativity. At this point, for the most part teams are as good as their records and seeding indicates in the West. We are a 4-6 seed, this is a significant downgrade from expectations, especially when Lebrons Lakers are not occupying a seed above us. Paul George is legitimately playing at an MVP level on both ends, and has put together an impressive streak over his last 12 games. The Rockets are definitely lacking, the Thunder at this stage are a better team.
The negativity has a lot to do with the disappointing trade deadline. Hard to be encouraged by the fact that we are relying on the buyout market to transform this team into a contender. Because we definitely aren't one as presently constituted.
they showed out on us and they were in particular critical of our team when we sat Melo. I am salty about the last game because it was an opportunity for our team to crush them and put them in their place and we blew it. In the grand scheme one game loss dont sink a ship its just I wish they could exert some force and a little less finesse on some of these p[layoff teams you cant let people have a psychological edge over you
I don't get the negativity either. Injuries have been brutal this season. Early chemistry trouble compounded the problem for a poor start. But it seems to me the team, as currently constructed, is significantly better than last season's squad given all are healthy. Unfortunately, they have yet to all play together, which makes Harden's level of play and the team's record all the more extraordinary. Which 10-man lineup would you prefer for 7 games of MDA offense and Bzdelik defense? Paul / Rivers Gordon / Green Harden / Shumpert Tucker / Faried Capela / Nene or Paul / ? Harden / Gordon Ariza / bah Moute Tucker / Anderson Capela / Nene
- Lost to the Warriors in G7 - taken out of championship contention Nothing you wrote matters in the end. It's all about winning it all
Why all the negativity? The Rockets in their biggest game of the year to date blew a 26-point lead(on national TV in prime time no less). This was a game they had to have if they wanted to get that 3rd seed(or possibly 2nd if the Nuggets continue to struggle). Instead they p-ssed away that opportunity by lazily jacking up 3's and getting outhustled on the boards. And it's not like this is the first time they've coughed up a win in this manner. This happened against the Mavs, Nets, Magic, T'Wolves, and Pelicans. Sure, they stole games against the Lakers and Warriors, but that doesn't make up for all of those losses. Eventually these pile up and you find yourself in 5th place with less than a third of the season left. Now the 4th seed certainly remains a possibility. Hell, the Rockets may be in 4th by the All-Star Break if they beat the Mavs and T'Wolves and they get Capela back after that. But that leaves them facing a really good Blazers team in Round 1 with the Warriors awaiting them in the Semifinals. The 3rd(or 2nd) seed would likely give them Utah(who they just demolished shorthanded in Salt Lake City) or San Antonio(who they're 2-1 against) with Denver or OKC awaiting them in the Semifinals. Which scenario sounds more appealing to you?
