The Thunder only have one player, Russell Westbrook! They are running everything through him and he is killing the Rockets. So why not make some adjusrments! We need to wear him down....similar to what the Jazz did against T-Mac in 07'. They ran Harpring, Brewer and Almond. They wore him down. Playing an 8 man rotation is playing into the Thunder hands. They need to bring Troy Williams off the bench. Williams has length. Run Beverly, Ariza and Williams at Westbrook and wear his ass out!!
This should be our starting 5 next game since Rhyno is pussying it out there Harden Bev EGo Ariza Nene
The horribly lopsided officiating in OKC hasn't helped. Seriously, as soon as we touched down there, the calls quit and they started calling more their way.
The game today, with Nene going off, only proves Harrell should be playing. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing a lineup of: Bev Harden Ariza Harrell Nene It screws with our spacing, is the only problem, but Harrell is above average around the rim, and that's where we've hurt them in this game.
D'Antoni is a better coach than McHale but they have some things in common. It is not in their DNA to make adjustments. And they play their main guys too many minutes. OKC has obviously game-planned our main dudes and made adjustments from Game 1. D'Antoni does not want to dip into that bench; he wants (a) guys who'll jack threes and (b) a center. I know benches get shorter for the playoffs but maybe some of our other less-heralded dudes will make a difference, especially since the refs have covered Harden in ketchup and thrown him into a pit of hyenas.
Hack-a-Roberson was the perfect adjustment. Forces them to choose between disrupting their flow and sending their worst free throw shooter to the line, or taking the best defender off Harden down the stretch. I'd do that every game.
I'd say coach adjusted well and that adjustment was huge in getting the victory. Hack-a Roberson was huge.
What you talking about? Playing Nene significant minutes and taking capella out IS the adjustment. You don't put your second/third best scorers in the team to wear the other star out. And he has been using Ariza on him when Beverley is on the bench. The hack a roberson is the best adjustment I've seen, stop putting up these knee jerk threads
MDA waited until the most critical point of the series to employ this too. I think he deserves major props for springing that on Billy Donovan in an extremely high leverage situation. Donovan really **** the bed by leaving Roberson in.
Came at the perfect time too. Had we done it the previous 3 games he may have caught a rhythym. A lot of times throug playoff series you start to see these guys start to hit them. It's like had we done it before he would have been prepared for it mentally (and maybe worked on his FTs between games) but now he had no clue it was coming.
1,000% this. MDA employed the hack-a strategy perfectly. It's almost as if he held the hack-a-Roberson up his sleeve and was just waiting for the most high leverage situation to use it. This is a huge reason why the Rockets won. Not only did Roberson go 2-6, but he had to leave the game during crunch time in the most important game of the series.
One adjustment, big whoop. This short rotation and not doing anything to start off hot like having Nene maybe instead of Capela or calling different plays...
One adjustment = a huge win in enemy territory, why the need to btch and nitpick? We now have history on our side with a 3-1 advantage.
Come on man, it was more than one adjustment. For one thing, he pulled the plug way faster on Capela in the 2H. The next step is to start Nene and limit Capela's minutes even further.
