August 2018...when he had more at bats than he has in 2019. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.a...am=21&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=9,d
He’s ****ed. The manager talking openly about benching you is not a good sign for a tubby 33rd rounder mired in a slump. He’ll be dfa by June 1.
Yeah not looking good for White right now. Dude is about to be demoted and it's got to be on his mind. Alverez is coming and White has got to be on thin ice at this point and with his weight, I'd be worried
Can Alvarez play another position other than the outfield? If not, where do we put him with 4 guys in the outfield already playing well?
When Alvarez comes up, either Reddick or Gurriel will ride the pine more, be traded, or someone is hurt. Moving White alone does not free up enough PAs for Alvarez. Removing Kemp and White does not free up enough PAs for Alvarez.
Kemp and White have combined for 148 PA so far; that’s more than Reddick has gotten, so simply replacing those 2 with Alvarez would make Alvarez essentially an everyday player. I’m hopeful that Alvarez coming up means less time for Gurriel, as I’m increasingly convinced that Gurriel is now a marginal player best suited as a bench bat (backing up 1B, 2B, 3B, and DH). This especially makes sense given how well Diaz has played recently.
I suspect Alvarez bats 6th. Gurriel has 166 plate appearances. To get Alvarez to 166 plate appearances, that's 18 more than Kemp and White using season averages. It is likely a greater percentage over last 3 weeks since Astros stopped trying to platoon in White and Kemp as much.
He lost some discipline since this article was published... https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/Astros-Tyler-White-trims-down-during-season-9235060.php
Have you ever noticed how people LOVE fat guys who are really good, but HATE fat guys who are really bad? The fat makes the good player more lovable. The fat makes the bad player more hateable.
Road trip to NYC might put an extra 10 pounds on White. How come nobody in the media asks Hinch about White's weight? Do your jerbs!
It's not just about how much one eats - (caloric surplus/deficit with variables of: calories consumed, RMR & calories burned thru exercise.)...........It is also about: What you eat: quality vs junk; carbs vs protein/healthy fats/vegetable fiber/moderate fruits When you eat: he needs to eat in an 8 hr window with 2-3 defined (quality nutrient-rich) meals, with NO snacking between meals When you don't eat: do NOT eat outside of those 8 hours (i.e. 16 hr fast) LIKE NON! If he keeps his carbs very low, especially refined carbs and liquid carbs (beer, fruit juice, sugared-soda etc), exercises with cardio & weight training, eats enough quality calories without going overboard, sleeps well, he will become healthy and shed that gut!!! You get healthy so that you CAN lose weight You don't lose weight so that you can get healthy. His belly fat screams of hormonal imbalance, i.e. too much insulin. Too much insulin due to: too many calories, too many carbs, eating too frequently (snacking, excessive liquid and solid carbs) and not allowing for the repairing effects of fasting. He is most likely insulin resistant/ pre-diabetic. Insulin tells the body to store food energy- glycogen and fat. It is impossible to maintain normal weight or lose weight in presence of too much insulin.
