We can make a kind of game theory scenario to explain this.

Let's say Isaiah Hartenstein gives your team +2 out of 10.
Chriss is worth 1, Qi is worth 1, and Nene is worth 0.

Who are you going to play at backup PF/C?

Why is a +2 our best option behind Clint? That's a question for Daryl Morey.

He plays hard but that’s about it. He’s completely a replacement level player.

Because if he didn’t play we would have a 7 man rotation

    Because he's our best backup 5 ??

    It's pretty obvious .

His team defense is quite good , it's exceptional for a rookie .

He will improve on the perimeter . He will improve on offense . He will stop getting called for ticky tack fouls .

Why do you guys hate hartenstein so much ?? You know he's black right ?

Because Zhou Qi sucks donkey ass, Chriss is a certified loser,

    And Nene,

probably playing keno in some senior centers at Sugerland.

So wtf you expect us to eat up some minutes?

It's really incredible to see you guys are getting used to accept low. Why the **** we don't have any back-up Center If we see ourselves as a contender?

You don't have to start the season with the roster you end it with .

Furthermore who was our backup center last year ?

Furthermore players can improve over the course of a season

Furthermore complaining about the performance of a 20 year old rookie big man is kinda fruitless ..... especially when his level of poor play has been greatly exaggerated

can’t really be mad at 3rd string center playing average ball. Nene is your problem.

We should play Chriss over Hartenstein. They're pretty much a wash: Marqueese is more athleticism and skill while Isiaha has (marginally) more BB IQ. However, we really need to build a Chriss-in-a-Rockets-uni highlight reel in advance of the trade deadline.

I agree with the last sentence only .

I think once you put Chriss out there the defense falls apart . Watching hartenstein not be able to do much on offense is frustrating .... and obvious . But , I think he is underrated as a defensive player and specifically to us a player who knows where to be .

From the little I saw from Chriss .... ya he's going to maybe get a highlight reel play , but more often than not he's going to be out of position.

Someone here said hartstain sets good screens. It’s crazy how people analyze the game so differently. To me, I’ve never seen someone set picks as bad as him, maybe at elementary level, but not NBA. He literally dry humps the defender from the back when trying to set a screen. Picks are supposed to be set on the side

Yeah he is just really lost on how to move properly. He's trying out there, I kinda feel bad.

Most of the time he's just going through the motions, but not actually playing basketball. For example a lot of the times, he would set a pick, and then dive to the hoop. The problem is he doesn't know where the hoop is when he rolls, nor does he look at CP3 or Harden so he fumbles the pass. The idea is there, it's just no execution. Same as on rebounds, he fights hard to box out, he jumps really high for the ball, but he doesn't know where his team mates are so he just randomly swipes at the ball.

If you look at Clark, everything is under control, he knows when to jump for the rebound, whom tip it to, and uses his body cleverly to secure it.
