why don't teams trade before the break?

    one of the truisms about the trade deadline in the nba is that teams tend to trade after the break.

    this is dumb to me. Wouldn't you want 8 or 10 days between games to acclimate your new players to your system???

    Isn't the break just a long weekend? And anyway isn't it a break for everyone except the All-Star participants? I don't think there is much practicing going on.
