Why does our style get criticized but others get a pass or even loved?

It isn't Iso-ball that's criticized. It's the fact we attempt a shitload of 3's that people hate. They think it's a cheap way of playing basketball.

 

That's actually in a separate tier all to itself that negative self-awareness having Kobe stans have dubbed "Bron Ball"

 

A multitude of factors in play, but my advice is to just not give a sh*t what they say and enjoy greatness.

 

They don't hate the warriors

 

Jealousy

 

They think iso and shooting **** load of threes won't get you a chip

 

People that hate suck

A combination of factors. People think our emphasis on shooting 3's is gimmicky. They think that figuring out basketball ala moreyball analytics takes something away from the game. There is a perception that Harden travels 24/7 and looks to draw fouls instead of making shots. Everyone is in love with the genetic freak gifted with athleticism, but not so much the above-average guy who spends his life in the gym perfecting an unstoppable step back 3 and beautiful footwork. If players like Lebron/Durant are preordained or scripted, then Harden is the cheat code that was never supposed to be in the game at all, upsetting the natural order of things. Nobody believed in us, and once the rockets started to dominate, it made the media look like fools, and they were forced to give the rockets credit where credit was due, even if they had to be dragged to it kicking and screaming against their will. They only half-heartedly grudgingly compliment us when the rockets win, but secretly thirst to pounce on any sign of weakness to prove that they were right all along. Notice how when we lose its an apocalyptic event, but whenever we win it just gets a shrug.

So basically, media conspiracy.

 

We really don’t play like the warriors, they play a much prettier brand of basketball with the million cuts they run. We actually don’t run a similar offense to them at all.

Having said that I couldn’t care less and I don’t know why you guys do either. Watching harden cook is fun.. and if we win I don’t care what offense we run or who likes it.

 

I think Harden gets a lot of hate outside of Rockets fans..

Haven't noticed the criticism. But, I don't pay much attention to what the paid talkers drone on about.

But, think about this. D'Antoni was coach of the year last year, and Harden will be MVP this year. So, clearly there are people out there that recognize that what we are doing does work, whether it's pretty or not.

If playing ugly wins a championship, then I'm all for it.

 

Because we do it more than any other team. We have a lot of possessions in which Harden or Paul use the entire shot clock dribbling the ball on the perimeter. Unless you really like watching 1-on-1 basketball or you’re a Rockets fan, that probably won’t be all that enjoyable to watch.
