It's called lack of defense and an offensive game that can be boring to some fans. I'm the biggest Harden fan out there but if i wasn't a rockets fan, I'd probably be hating on him too (especially considering the Kardashian fiasco last year).
There's plenty of reasons why people claim they dislike Harden, but I feel those people contradict themselves or don't look at facts. The free throws for example, Harden is around 40th on the list of most FT attempts in a single season. It's media also endorsing and promoting the Curry clean cut image. Who is more marketable? Curry a good family man or Harden and his harem of strippers? Harden is massively underrated and appreciated. But glad he's a Rocket and hope he remains one for life.

Exactly. He "made it". You know you have made it in the league when people get salty about your free throws, or pick apart every mistake you make. That's why Lebron got hammered everytime he lost in the finals, if he wasn't an elite player, no one would have roasted LeBron. It comes with greatness whether people want to admit it or not. And hardens game is quite beautiful to watch

You say you're a Harden fan but the first thing you say is lack of defense? You sound like one of those ppl that didn't watch any games, got his Rockets info from sports center highlights and YouTube videos
lol? Harden doesn't play defense? Are you saying he does? He might start playing it this year but he sure didn't last year, anyone who watched the Rockets last season should agree. What people don't like about Harden is that his game relies on tricking the refs, he often drives with the intent to draw fouls not to score buckets.

To answer the thread title, it has 100% to do with the defense low-lights. People see that he is amazing, but the fact that effort and energy are the only thing keeping him from transitioning one step higher is infuriating. That is why he is an easy target. He is gifted with an obvious and correctable flaw.
