Why did we even sign Brooks if he isn't going to play?

When Harden struggles, since he is our best offensive player, we have nobody else to go to. Lin/Parsons can get us some points, but they aren't that consistent, especially Lin.

When we signed Aaron Brooks, I was pretty excited. I knew he would be coming off the bench, but I did not know that he would be a bench warmer. I'd argue that Brooks is our 2nd or 3rd best offensive player on the team, and yet McHale benches him. And before anyone says he doesn't know the team's 'system' yet, what's so hard about understanding the Harden iso that is constantly ran?

Hopefully next year Brooks or a new PG that we get is the starter and Lin is 6th man.

I don't have access to post threads on the main part of the forum.

And that is just my opinion on Lin. He'd be a great 6th man, I just don't feel he is good enough to be a starter.

Disregard that last sentence if you wish, I just want to here your guys' thoughts on why Brooks has not been playing.

Like others mentioned, Brooks was only insurance in case Lin or Beverley got injured.

Also, Brooks contract is an asset itself. Next season is not guaranteed (team option). We could very well use his 2.5 million dollar contract to make a trade happen. Very underrated and valuable contract.

I think there may have been a good reason for that, with all due respect.

I actually heard Bill Simmons say that he overheard Daryl Morey saying that it was because of his red blazer. He has yet to suit up.

Yeah pretty much, we can't have Brooks and Harden on the floor at the same time playing too many minutes, not enough defense. If we were trying to go 100% run and gun that'd be perfect but then again if you want someone who can shoot and play defense you might as well play Beverley. He knows the system better than Brooks right now anyways.

Similar question, why did the Spurs sign Tracy McGrady? Not like they're going to play him much, he can't spot up and shoot, can't play defense and needs to dominate the ball to be effective. At least Brooks can still drive and shoot. Other aspects of his game are still suspect.

He is insurance against Lin or Bev getting hurt - good move DM.

AB is now a washed up scrub. 3rd-string PGs rarely get playing time in the NBA.

1.) Insurance in case of injury
2.) He allows you to move Lin or Beverly in the offseason without worry about the PG rotation.
