Abortion has been on a downward trend, which is good. Abortion fell most quickly under a Republican congress with a centrist Democrat in the White House who was dealing with scandal and couldn't spend political capital defending abortion. The fact that there is an abortion for every 5 live births still is horrifying.
I'm sure this has nothing to do with the prevalence and evolution of birth control (eyeroll). Feel free to investigate the medical breakthroughs in birth control since Reagan... Anyone can cherry pick data to make their case, it's what pollsters do for a living. I know the "abstinence first" education doesn't work, but without taking all of the data into account, you're just circle jerking. This is up there with the "You'll never believe what happened" Facebook posts.

That is one thing I do support to reduce abortions. I have no issues with making birth control more accessible to people. This is a place where Planned Parenthood could really be beneficial. More birth control = less abortions.
Well I think it is pretty obvious that conservatives cause more premature deaths than liberals. They create more unnecessary wars, deaths from lack of health care, gun violence, early childhood deaths from diarrhea and easily controlled conditions -- especially in undeveloped countries as they extract loan repayments.. With respect tp to abortion there tend to be more abortions despite their preaching as above.
Anyone truly serious about reducing abortions should 100% be in favor of increased access and ease of obtaining birth control.
Sure if you are unconditionally pro-life...you should also not support killing roaches rats or snakes either. Most people are conditionally "pro-life" in that they are "pro" the right type of things living. Murderers, rabid dogs, fleas, and poison ivy can all die to improve society while other things should live.
Education, access, and cost are 3 that spring to mind. Those are all helped tremendously by the work of Planned Parenthood. Even your friend, cml750, recognizes the worth of Planned Parenthood in providing birth control to American women. They are a particularly valuable source of birth control for the poor women of this country, and young American women of high school and college age who are just starting a sexual journey that will last the rest of their lives. The last thing both groups need, and they overlap of course, is the financial and emotional anchor of an unplanned birth. In the late '60's and early '70's, I brought more than one girlfriend to Planned Parenthood to insure that they had birth control. PP provides a very needed service, and will continue to do so, despite being under assault by those who have little regard for women's rights.
