I vote for Bobby and Comets if anyone should.. even though I am pretty anti mod. If they agree something is bad, then you know it is bad.

I agree 100% with the part you put in bold. Not much needs to change here.

Actually, I think B-Bob would make an excellent choice. Yes, his views lie on one side of the aisle, but he's always very objective, and listens to what others are saying. That's what the job takes. I have been a moderator in another forum for many years...you aren't going to find people that don't have opinions. What you want are people who will be fair regardless of what their political leanings might be.

In order to moderate, there need to be rules. All the moderators really do is determine whether or not a poster/post is violating the rules.

I second the b-bob recommendation. He's informed, educated and always civil. There will always be bias, but being able to compartmentalize said bias is what will make him a great mod.

@B-Bob is a scientist, and we all know that science has a liberal bias.

I'm down with that. It's not me, so that's good. It's not quite that I don't have a sense of humor about this place like @Deckard said, but I probably have a lower than average amount of patience for bullshit. I wouldn't over-moderate, but I'd just take more stress than is warranted.

Btw, a lot of the conservative posters seem to be wringing their hands about censorship. I really don't think you need to worry. The consensus seems to be light touch, and censoring people would actually be a lot of work!

@Mrs. Valdez, but she hasn't been here in 6 years. And if you made her moderator, probably everybody would be banned within the month. ;)

There's absolutely a legitimate concern for anyone to the right of the extreme left when it comes to censorship. This is especially true when the rules are poorly or loosely defined in order to allow selective enforcement along ideological lines.....just ask all of those people being banned off of Twitter and Patreon how that works. Fortunately we have Clutch here to ensure that mod abuses don't happen, but I think everyone would feel better if they knew for sure exactly what is allowed and what isn't.

I like him, @Clutch. He's a good choice. I can't wait for him to ream me out. ;)

Not that there's anything wrong with that, but asskissing the mods is supposed to go the other way around.

    I agree re: B-Bob.

Did anyone understand the Grim Reaper claw machine cartoon someone posted suggesting the grim reaper was trying for B-Bob and got Bush instead?

Common courtesy and decency seems to be so elusive a concept and the hand wringing about "rules" by some of our most vile practioners of poo slinging is almost comical. Comical in the sense of a clown bludgeoning a baby seal. Repeatedly.

If you get censored, please come back under an alternate to say 'I told you so.'
