Rocket River and I where having a discussion about the Sg rotation and this question emerged.

What Back court combo gets the most time together on the court

    Lowry\Brooks or Lowry\Lee

I am thinking Lowry\Lee but I would love to hear some good reasons from both sides of the coin.

This is actually a very good question that hasn't gotten brought up till you two started talking about it...

I think it well have to do with matchups, if we are playing a team not too strong at the 2, brooks will be in to burn him. But if that team has one of Kobe, or even lesser but still a threat on offense, Lee will be in for sure. And hes no offensive liability on the court himself... this is part of the reason of the trade, to improve the second group's defense, while improving it on offense too.. which one will see MORE time overall? I say Lowry/Lee, because both are good at offense AND defense... that combination looks and sounds good to me, and I can't wait to see them play.

I think that The Brooks\Lowry has more history of doing well.
I would think that alone will get them some burn.
[esp in the beginning of the season]

with Lowry and Lee - will that be enough offense?

    Good point.

There me be a lack of offense but not of Defense.

With a Lowry\Lee back court you could run Chase or Kevin at the 3 for more offense and still have good perimeter help defense with Lowry and Lee rotating in help situations

We will see Lowry-Lee-Martin-Scola-Miller a lot.

My bet is that Lee is the first off the bench to spell Battier (Martin moves to the 3)...then Miller for Yao...then Lowry for Brooks...then Hayes for Scola and Budinger for Martin.

Battier returns for C Bud...Brooks returns for Lee...Yao returns for Hayes...Scola and Martin return for Lowry and Miller. Solid 10-man rotation, and I don't see Budinger and Hayes getting big minutes.

I don't know much about LEE so I am kind of shooting blind.
[going with the horse I know]

Reports is that Lee's jumper is suspect and Lowry's is far from automatic
This will allow opposing defenses to pack it in more.

It becomes a pick your poison
Score or stop your opponent from scoring.

If you run KMart and bud at the three. You open up a defensive liability there

    Lowry/lee/Kmart < Lowry/Brooks/Battier?

    Lowry/lee/Kmart leaves me with questions
    Is KMART KMART against SFs?
Will he be enough to off set the rest of the offense?
    Rebounding?

I can see the lowry/Lee/battier/Scola/Hayes [LOCK DOWN SQUAD]
in spots but not for extended amount of time.

I don't think this combo will be seeing much time but I would like to see what Adelman does with it - Brooks/Lee Brooks defense on a scale of 1-10 is a 3.
Lee? from what i've heard (shooting blind) a 7. Lee's offense would be maybe a 3 and Brooks offense is an 8.

I think Lee and Martin will be able to switch on defense depending on the match up.

Most of the time this unit will be playing against the other teams bench. So the other team will probably have a weaker player at the 2 or 3

I don't think Lowry and Brooks will be playing together as much as last season, IMO Lowry and Lee will complement each other so I'll go with Lowry and Lee.

i think you are missing the point that we don't know the name of our starting Small Forward yet! Which Morey is possibly working on.
Note Martin is a Shooting Guard. :p

Our starting lineup will mostly be halfcourt offense other than the occasional Brooks/Martin fastbreak outlet.

Our 2nd unit is known for their change of pace. Lowry is at his best when he pushes the tempo and it's worked wonders for us last season because it brings instant intensity off the bench. The 2nd unit this year will work best based on players that fit that style of play. Imho, that is when Lee and Chase are at their best as well. Miller will be the outlet passer or initiate the high post sets if the primary or secondary fast break is not there. Chuck will come in based on defensive matchups. Hill or Patpat will get burn based on who fits better with this second unit.

If Martin is moved . . . does Lee start?
or would you start with Brooks and Lowry and Lee off the bench?

I think that it will depend....

Martin and Brooks will start, but I like the offense defense contrast that

    Lowry and Martin

    and

    Brooks and Lee

    Bring to the table....

This team is so deep, so many options to play with for coach Adelman.

How can Martin play 3? He weighs 180 pounds he's extremely underweight especially for SF.

It remains to be seen - whichever combo is bringing it that night should get the most minutes.

I'm intrigued by a Lee/Martin combo to matchup against Utah and Deron Williams.

He is slight for the 3, but he will create mega-mismatches in that role. Lee would likely guard the SF situationally. 8-10 minutes per game at SF would not surprise me.

Lowry/Lee is going to be excellent. Here's a good one also, Ish/Brooks?

Ish probably isn't going to even sniff minutes, and even if he did we'd probably have a defensive disaster if he was paired with Brooks.

But at least we'd have so much speed on the floor that we could TURN BACK TIME.
