Here's the rules: only current players and Dwight Howard doesn't count (too early to tell). 1. Shaq 2. Duncan 3. LeBron 4. Iverson 5. Webber 6.Brand 7 K-Mart 8. Yao 9. Glen Robinson 10. Kwame Brown 11. Joe Smith 12. Kandi-man 1 through 6 are franchise players and best players on their teams. K-Mart is ahead of Yao in my book, because he's already been twice to the Finals, even though he wasn't the best player on his team (neither is Yao). Glen Robinson turned out to have a solid career but nothing special. 10-12 are qualified busts, Kwame is ahead of the other two only because he still has a chance to make some impact. When all are finished, LeBron may move ahead of Duncan, but doubtfull he'll move ahead of Shaq (btw, Shaq is the MVP this year, hands down...) Yao may surpass Brand and K-Mart, and as I said Kwame still has a chance. Your take?
I'd rate Yao sixth or seventh(more like sixB in that case). Elton Brand is a fine player, but he doesn't demand nearly the defensive attention Yao does. Brand's defense makes it razor close though and I could see putting him above Yao at this point and time. Personally, I think Yao is clearly better than Kenyon Martin, however.
yao should be above kmart. kwame and kandi are two of the biggest busts in the past few years. they don't belong on the list.
Brand plays hard. I like his play, but the guy is never a big scorer and always plays in a losing team. Kmart went to the final twice because of kidd. If he is that good, why Denver isnt even in the playoff picture with Miller, Melo, Camby surrounding him. I would definitely put Yao ahead of these two.
As of right now: 1. Duncan 2. Shaq 3. Lebron 4. Iverson 5. Brand 6. Webber 7. K-Mart 8. Yao 9. Glen Robinson 10. Kwame Brown 11. Joe Smith 12. Kandi-man
Oooohh. 20 points playing for the Clippers and the Bulls. Some accomplishment right there. How many times has Brand led his team to the playoffs? Duncan Shaq Lebron Yao Iverson (Philly would trade us Iverson for Yao in a sec) Webber Brand K-Mart Glen Robinson The rest aren't even worth mentioning.
Can you read??????? I was replying to a post that stated Elton Brand "is never a big scorer" I would think a guy who averages 20 a game IS a big scorer (regardless of whom he plays for). As far as never leading his team to the playoffs - to be fair, the guy has never played on a team with a sidekick to help him get there. Which is why he's rated below the players who have done that (carry their team to the playoffs). And hotballa - I must be nuts! KMart is below Yao!! (that'll teach me to copy and paste without checking carefully what I'm doing...)
I've always wondered about that.... Is there a centre who has become a really dominant player later in their career? I'm just thinking of some of the best centres of the past decade: Hakeem - definitely matured, but his contribution, even early, was top shelf! Admiral - came straight into the league and went to work Shaq - Went to the finals almost immediately, and was dominant from the get-go 'Zo - brought his lunch-pail every game, from opening night Ewing - ditto Smits - peaked in his first few seasons! Wennington - took some time...
Here's mine: 1. Shaq 2. Duncan 3. Lebron 4. Webber 5. Iverson 6. Brand 7. Yao (movin' on up!) 8. K-Mart 9. Glen Robinson 10. Kwame Brown 11. Joe Smith 12. Kandi-man
But every one of those guys played major college ball, right? A much better comparison is against guys that either came straight from high school or overseas. Most of these players didn't start dominating until at least their third or fourth season: KG Kobe Lebron (hmmm....never mind) Dirk Peja EDIT: OK, I see you were replying to the notion that centers take longer to develop...
1. Shaq 2. Duncan 3. LeBron 4. Iverson 5. Yao 6. Webber 7. Brand 8. K-Mart 9. Glen Robinson 10. Joe Smith 11. Kwame Brown 12. Kandi-man For what they have done so far and what they have shown they have left, here is my order. Kenyon has never averaged more than 16.7 pts/game, so not sure why he is up so high. Webber has put up far glossier numbers than Yao or many others, but the combination of the playoff choking and the injuries, coupled with the choice of colleges, I have to drop him a little. Iverson shoots the ball 50 times a game so he should score a lot, but he willed his team to a championship almost singlehandedly so he has to be up there. The other thing to remember about this list that is downright scary. Lebron, with his incredible season to date, is only 20. TWENTY!!!
1. Shaq 2. Duncan 3. Lebron 4. Iverson 5. Yao 6. Webber 6. Brand 8. K-Mart 9. Glen Robinson 10. Kwame Brown 11. Joe Smith 12. Kandi-man You guys just don't realize the value of Yao yet.
Right now: Duncan Shaq Lebron Yao Iverson Webber Brand K-Mart Glen Robinson In a year: Duncan Lebron Yao Shaq AI Webber Brand K-Mart Glen Robinson Down the road: Lebron Yao Duncan Shaq Iverson Webber Brand K-Mart Glen Robinson
1. Shaq 2. Duncan 3. Lebron 4. Yao 5. Iverson 6. Webber 7. Brand 8. K-Mart 9. Glen Robinson 10. Kwame Brown 11. Joe Smith 12. Kandi-man
1. Shaq 2. Duncan 3. Lebron 4. Iverson 5. Webber 6. Yao 7. Brand 8. K-Mart 9. Glen Robinson 10. Joe Smith 11. Kandy 12. Kwame Brown hopefully this will change for the better and I can put Yao higher
