Any good butcher shops in Houston you guys recommend? I've always just picked up my steaks and everything else from HEB, but was wondering if anyone could point me to a butcher's shop that is really good. I've heard good things about La Michoacana and there's one kinda close to my house, but just wanted to see what yall think. Something around Memorial area or Copperfield/Cypress area would be preferred.
La Michoacana is hit or miss. Some locations are terrible and others great. For example the one in Spring on FM2920 is pure garbage. Very thick fajita meat that I don't believe is even skirt steak. Drive a few miles south in north Houston and the one on FM1960 by Ella has really good quality meat. Then again I only buy fajitas from there. I buy everything else at HEB
HEB, but I don't get anything that's already been cut and is sitting out. Gotta just go to the butcher and have him cut you something fresh and at the right thickness.

B&W Meat Co. There located on Shepard near the North Loop. The meats are good and they have good service. https://local.yahoo.com/info-18986529-b-w-meat-company-houston ....... ....... .......
I really have questions about this place. To me the typical steak cuts (ribeye, ny strip, ect) have looked decent at best. I really like that they are an actual butcher and the HUGE variety of cuts that the typical mega store may or may not have unless you ask specifically for is nice...BUT coming in at a peak hour to wait 30-45 mins for a decent cut of meat at an avg price isnt worth it for me. I went last sunday just for the fun of it with my dad, who really is a fan of the place, to buy fajitas. They looked decent in the case, where ~$7.50/lb, and we waited 20 mins before just saying whatevs and bought them at HEB for a buck less. A lot of people swear by this place and I do like it, but higher quality cuts of meat can be had for cheaper at regular grocery stores IMO.
Can't argue with anything you stated, but for what it's worth, they've been there for the past 50yrs and they do have a loyal clientele. I don't have a problem buying at HEB, especially when it's more convenient. ....... ....... .......
