Where's Popey the only guy who would tickle us with trade winds? Where are the Rumors that fuel our imagination? Clutch, heypartner, Manual, Jeff, Cabbage, come on guys!!!!!!! Bring out the Rumors that you Hide!!!! ------------------
Well, first of all, I don't think I've ever heard of an NBA team talking about roster moves during the NBA Finals...I don't think the NBA or NBC would like it very much if any attention were taken away from the Finals (ratings are bad enough) by a team announcing roster moves, so there's sort of an unwritten rule that you wait until AFTER the playoffs to talk to other teams...Plus, I belive that teams can't sign free agents until July 1st, so teams don't want negotiations to get too public too early, because you never know what a player will do...The more private that negotations are between teams or a team and a free agent, the better it is for both parties involved... Also, it would look pretty bad on somebody's part if they went "the boy that cried wolf" on the board and started posting every rumor about a trade or FA signing that they heard, because half of them are wrong, anyways...People usually want to be as informed as possible on those topics, or nobody will take them seriously... popeye was wrong half of the time. But, just because trade talks don't come through doesn't mean they weren't ongoing at the time they were leaked. It doesn't have as much to do with how many times your 'rumors' come true, with how you present them. If you present them as the gospel you're more likely to get a less than enthusiastic repsonse. But, if you report it in a very cautious manner and add disclaimer left and right and you're right some of the time, then that's when you get people noticing your stuff. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
