I realized this in the 06-07 season. His production was down that year from his rookie year. He was a regular player but hadn't been shooting as well. Then we played Utah and he had a wonderful 11-35 shooting performance.

That is when I started hating Luther Head.

'Hate' is such a strong word. I don't hate the guy, but if I'm coaching a championship contending team, he wouldn't be on my roster.

It's not about hating the guy, it's about becoming annoyed that his shot isn't falling. Not Luther himself.

Luther is a shooter, and when the ball isn't going in the bucket, we tend to get agitated.

I think Luther would mesh better on a different team who needs a spot up shooter.

Speak for yourself, buddy. Many of us are dissatisfied with Luther's performance and think he should be traded, but he's a standup guy, never complains, and is not deserving of any kind of hate. This thread sucks.

This is the kind of crap that drives me crazy.

And the reason you are on ignore mlwoo.

There is always someone on this board that people have to complain about. First it was Bowen, then Rafer - well it always sort of comes back to Rafer. If one is lost another takes his place.

We are talking about a guy who has been regulated to the end of the bench at this point and has a skill we can still use.

Making a thread about people hating him is quite a waste of space (and my time because I can't believe I responded to this nonsense, but sometimes my annoyance must be vented!)

Being an NBA player, he should be able to do better than that....

Extending Luther was a mistake by Morey. Deke would be signed right now...

He extended him a year and it was a low cost move... and it likely made for better trade bait. I would say it wasn't a "big" mistake at all.

There was 1 game I remember he went with a crossover and actually broke his own ankles and fell on his face. That was the moment.

The flaw in your thoughts is that you believe he actually has any trade value while other NBA GM's do not.

    :D

Morey is not perfect, he made a mistake here.

Maybe hate was a strong word. I undestand he is a person and has feelings and is not a bad guy.

Maybe I should have said, "When did it start making you cringe every time Luther Head touches the ball?"

    or

"When did you realize that a short 2 that can't dribble and now can't shoot should be off the team?"

    or

"What curse do you yell every time Luther Head shoots?"

Instead I balled it up into the word "hate."

I am sorry for offending you Hayesfan. Not that you can read this anyways . . . :p

07-08 playoffs when we desperately needed shots to fall and luther beung a shooter was giving us absolutely nothing. I took this year playoffs more serious than last years becuase no yao so i guess i expected luther to be a hero but i still dont hate him as a person but i hate him on the court when hes missing shots

I tend to doubt that none of the other GM's think he's worth taking a fly at. It's just a matter of what Morey is willing to give him up for.

I don't think Morey is perfect, but I don't think that this particular move was a mistake at all... just like picking up Novak wasn't a mistake either (if you look at the big picture)
