remember when monday or thursday were the only days a team could have an off day? Why do i see weird crazy stuff like the Astros off on wednesday???? This was only ever allowed in the 1st week of the season. When did this change and can we change it back?! Used to be that your most likely day off would come on monday or thursday, usually monday. BUT NEVER ON THE OTHER DAYS.
Having tomorrow off instead would've been nice so that Texans fans could watch the first pre-season game on its own. I know it's meaningless, but still. It's been a looooooong off-season and I'm ready for some football again. No big deal, I'll just have them on two separate screens when such an occasion like this happens. Most people will probably just DVR one or the other. Hopefully in late Oct or early Nov, I'll need three screens to watch when the Astros, Rockets and Texans all play on the same day
Astros haven’t had a game postponed this season hence the wierd number of off days. Worked out perfectly for the McCullers injury
It’s more of the weirdness of the number of off days recently as opposed to over the course of the entire season. @Tomstro brings up a good point. Today is the 20th day since the all star break ended and it’s the Astros 4th off day. Over the next 20 days they have 3 off days and then over the next 20, only 2. Prior to the all star break they had 3 separate instances of 13 games without an off day. Not sure if I remember 4 scheduled off days in a 20 day period in recent history.
I thought I saw somewhere that it was by design - giving teams more off days later in the season makes it easier to take care of rainouts and the like without causing postseason delays.
Probably something like that. Just odd that these off days are coming right after the all star break. Essentially 8 days with no Astros games over a 24 day period counting the all star break.
I noticed this when the schedule was released, it jumped out immediately. Ended up coming at an extremely good time for us though.
Whats up with all the games against winning teams? Last 8 games have been against winning teams (including SF) and the next 12 games will be too. Where did all the sh*t teams go? *I understand a lot of that is the product of playing in the best division in baseball this year but still there are a lot of sh*t teams in baseball*
