To be picky (well not really)...

TE can't be aggregated. And just about none of your deals are realistic from the opposing perspective.

I'll be glad to take Wilcox off of the Clippers' hands.

I think we've gone over this before but you can't add aggregate the TE to a players salary in order to made a deal work capwise. The TE can only be used to absorb a contract that's within that TE amount. So we can't add the 3 mill TE to a 2 mill player to trade for a 5 mill player. We can only trade the 3 mill TE and the 2 mill player for a 3 mill player and a 2 mill player.

That being said, even if all of the deals you mentioned would work capwise, the Chris Wilcox deal is by far the best one. I'd do that move without blinking.

I thought about mentioning that also...as I have learned from you guys in the past....;)

ever thought of doing a TE Uses For Dummies thread?

then we could just link it up everytime another one of these suggestions come along that arent legal.

Weeks ago I suggested the possibility that Wilcox who gets along with Dunleavy Sr not for a 1st (May? Simien?) and the TE was a possibilty worth considering. I stay convicted such.

Wilcox is a scrub, who just happens to be a superb athlete and can make a few highlight reels with his dunks...all flash, no substance. You don't find it curious that he couldn't get off the pine while playing for the CLIPPERS?

Dunleavy said himself that the guy doesn't rebound enough and doesn't play defense. Additionally, he can't really shoot either so teams would be able to pack it in on both he and Yao. Not a good fit at all.

Wilcox would probably be the best deal, but I'd rather keep the 1st rounder than deal it for any of those guys.

Bonzi Wells may also be a possibility for a fire sale trade.

so the question is really what can we get for our pick?

the first guy that will be traded from that list is miles so i would say that we have the best chance at him....but do we want him?

While it is perfectly correct that you can't aggregate the TE, the Wilcox deal (or a deal for any other player who makes less than the TE) is doable with a small tweek.

Remember, that the Francis/McGrady trade demonstrated that each team in a trade is allowed to view their side of the deal as multiple trades in order to make the trade work capwise.
That means that you could do a deal like this:

    Rockets
    -------
    TE + 1st rounder

    Clips
    -------
    Wilcox + 2nd rounder

From Houston's point of view (POV), it's two separate deals:

    1) TE for Wilcox - That's doable because the TE can cover Wilcox salary.
    2) 2nd round pick for a 1st round pick - both picks count $0 for trade purposes, so it's legal.

From the Clips POV, it's a single deal:
    1) Wilcox + 2nd rounder for a 1st round pick - The Clips are sending out more salary than they are taking in, so the deal is legal.

Of course, this type of deal will only work if the player we are trading for has a salary which can be covered by the TE. Most of the other guys in the list above have salaries which are too high.

Quite frankly, we only have two significant pieces. Want anyone else? Sure, if it's a good deal.

This is offseason, so what the heck.

I voted for Wilcox. Not because he is better than others, but because he fits our need and a likely trade target.

Just out of curiousity. Don't the Clippers still have Elton Brand? And didn't Wilcox come out as a sophomore? I'd say it is OK if he hasn't shown he is ready yet.
