Could we SnT Shumpert to a similar bonus-heavy deal? Since his 2019 salary was $11 MM, we could sign him to a new deal in the tens of millions without being subject to BYC restrictions.

    Something like:

Shumpert at $13 MM ($2.3 MM guaranteed, $10.7 MM in likely bonuses) and Chiozza
    for
    Iggy

If Rockets sign Corey Brewer (Morey & MDA favorite) to vet min, does that effect need for Shump?

Just so I understand if signed in this way, neither can be traded until January?

I'd like both Shump & Faried back they would definitely bolster our bench.
Shump is a nice fit to me for his role fucx Iggy the warrior. Shump is a solid vet with championship experience
I hope the front office can keep him

If Shump gets signed to a similar contract to Nene (I have no idea if he would and how much that would aggregate), then I think barring injuries or outside and new factors coming into play, we could make a run for Kevin Love without giving up much rotation.

Rebuilding teams don’t want Love. Few contenders have expiring like we would in those two, and if they do, doesn’t the structure of Nene and Shump be more advantageous for the Cavs than just contracts that they would have to pay fully?

So wouldn’t the best deal for the Cavs be saving money with Shump and Nene and taking all our remaining picks? Worst case scenario we’d have to toss House in?

Dunno. Maybe I’m not getting this Nene contract clearly but makes sense for Cavs. With his contract it would be hard for it to make sense for another team to get in there.

EDIT: unfortunately whether I’m onto something or way off I am going crazy with the idea of having Westbrook and Harden making plays with Capela down low and PJ and Love camped out at the 3 point line.

imagine signing shumpert and nene for the minimum and then being allowed to trade them for a $20M player? lmao.

love is too expensive at $28M, so is OPJ at $27M. but we could still land Gallo, covington, iggy, ibaka and Marcus Morris.

That would be pretty sweet if they could pull of Love for Nene and Shump. I've warmed up to the idea of Love. He wasn't my first choice but he does provide consistent 3 point shooting and he can still grab 10 plus boards a game. He's the best outlet passer in the league too. Both he and Harden can could outlet to Clint and Russ for a ton of easy transition points.

Considering that Russ and Love are close maybe there is something to what you are hoping for. I'd be thrilled to get Love and keep our core.

Would take Covington, Ibaka or Iggy.

No thanks on Kevin Love, even if Rockets can swing $28M trade. Do not want, he is not a fit - HOU needs the right role players around Beard and Brodie.

Cannot play Love with Harden or Westbrook, huge liability on defense. And at $28M, he better be starting.

Rockets do not need more offense, they need more switchable defenders around their 2 offensive minded MVPs. And Rockets also need players that can contribute in playoffs. Love is injury prone.

    Stupid is not knowing this.

    I agree with this.
But what what if Iggy goes to LA and Covington either stays put or or goes to GS? If we can't get a wing that leaves Love or Gallo maybe. Im not sure if A Gordon could be had. If all else fails Love at least strengthens the roster.

Our defense may still suffer, unless we could hide him at the 5 for a few stretches during the game. At least he would upgrade our 3 point shooting and rebounding profile.

Love cannot run with Brodie and offers no rim protection playing 5. He would also be targeted and cooked on switches.

He is a sniper and rebounder, but so was Ryno.

People saying Love would be a bad fit on this team are ridiculous.
No players’ offence fits better in the power forward position. No his defence is not stellar but a) PJ would still be starting at SF and b) we’re not trading defenders for him. Just two contracts and possibly filler

problem is do you really need more offense? the rockets just added a guy who wants to get shots up as well, who also is not known to be too stellar defensively. they need defensive minded players, not offensive players who are a liability defensively, especially in this system. In terms of that he is a bad fit tbh.

I could be wrong but if Nene can be traded for a player making up to $12.6 mil, then Nene and Shump should be able to get a player around $24-$25 mil. Throw in a Gary Clark and IH and numbers could match.

Gonna enjoy this until it becomes clear Shump isn’t signing here.

    MDA says MORE OFFENSE.
MOREY says MORE STARS! MORE STARS!!!

This is who our team is. And look, if you’re giving me a choice between KLove and Paul George, who is (and I hate this term) a great 2-way player, sure, I’ll take PG13.

But let’s not say Covington or Iggy would be better fits or more of what we need. Game 7 against the Warriors, would you rather have had Ariza’s D or Love’s offense. I know it’s not a fair example, but I’m just saying give me the way better player. Sure, some are known to play better defense, that’s just a luxury most defensive specialists get labelled because their offense sucks.

Love is a great offensive player and can rebound, and is most definitely not as big of a liability as people say. Our team D will not be a joke if Capela and PJ are doing their part and Harden Russ and Love aren’t as drained because the offense is less taxing. Not to mention Tyson Chandler and Austin Rivers are also solid defenders.

Edit: Also if we want to talk about fit, similar to WB replacing CP3, which by the way I’m not sold basketball wise is an improvement but if it meant Harden is way happier then improvements will come.... you actually think a guy like Iggy is going to be a good fit? Besides the fact that I don’t believe he’s even considering us if he’s bought out, I think he would have the worst attitude on a team with Harden, on top of him being possibly injured. He did his thing in GS, but he’s a self entitled b**ch.

I don't understand why I don't have the option "give him the max".
