At the end of the day, winning is going to be how we judge the Melo move. And, the swing in this number will mean all. It's my contention that he's going to be way more efficient here, with CP3/James & the rest our well oiled machine. Coming from the other end of the spectrum in OKC, that's a big swing. Yeah, I see him scoring points, but pulling down more boards, getting his fair share of assists..while cutting down that turnover rate. Anthony has plenty of motivation, and this, along with our team, should translate into a renaissance period for him. He should both fill in the blanks offensively (for us as a team) here, and be an important part of our flow...a scorer, with some Lamar Odom thrown in. We're a perfect fit for his game . When it comes time to deal with GS, we'll smash them like guitars. Oh, I digress.. PER of at least 18.75 .
I'd like to see Melo top a 15+ PER with a WS/48 over .100 and BPM and VORP in the positives. That would make him a decent role player and would be a big step up from what he was last year in OKC, where he was pretty much a minus across the board in terms of advanced metrics. If he can reach those metrics (which should be easily doable), that's a successful season for me.
Does PER matter? Melo's PER wont be NEARLY as high as Montrezl Harrell's last season. Or Javale McGree's.
From a team perspective, just think of how he'll free up James/CP3 to CC. They'll have to respect him on D. Melo will do everything RA was out there to do and more...wide open J's.
WTH? Who still uses PER? That’s the most outdated advanced statistic out. I’m not sure why they still produce it.
Our boy MontrezL Harrell was number 12 in the league last year with PER with 24.7 playing 17 mins a game. TREZ is a beast.
We'll get 32 33 min/night of high efficiency play.. And, if you don't ;like F'n PER, use the eye test or whatever....You're missing my point. In later posts I reference the tip of the iceberg, from a strategic sense.
