What time is the game, and how do I cancel my date?

    I stupidly scheduled a date for Saturday night at 7:30 PM (pacific) with this really hot and smart girl that I’ve been trying to date for a while.

    What time is the game, and how do I tell her that she isn’t remotely as important as the 2018 NBA Champions, the houston rockets in a way that won’t offend her?

    Already on sale, be ready to faint when you see the ticket prices. They were $110 for Rockets Insider members a couple days ago. If you have less than $130, you ain’t going.

    Only the guy in your profile pic would turn down a “hot and smart girl” for basketball.

    Take the girl all day, everyday over the Rockets, especially in a series that is pretty much a guarantee, in the Rockets favor.

    Dude. I mean come onnnn ...
    Have you not had a iPhone that can stream. Don’t cancel the date and also watch the game. It’s entirely doable. Been there and done that. Make sure pick up the bill and be really gentle, sweet and all. You will be fine.

    Tell her the dilemma, re-schedule for Friday. Tell her you didn't want to lie, that you respect her way too much to do that. 60% of the time that works every time.

    Seriously though, if this isn't your first time meeting her face to face, why can't you just take her somewhere to watch the game & do something more personal/intimate next time? If the Rockets are super important to you, she'll have to learn to navigate that down the road anyway. I've gone to BWW to watch a game many times on a first date, most times w/ guys who weren't Rockets fans or remotely invested in the outcome.

    I had a dream like that once. I picked up my date and she said, let's go to a bar and watch the Rockets game. Then I woke up.

    Game 1 of the first round...

    Go on your date. Tell her you are missing a playoff game to hang out with her. That is a gesture you might make her understand and appreciate, if she can "gets" your fandom. If that doesn't work...never see her again and watch every playoff game alone and sad...but knowing you tried. ;)

    Or say f it and spend the money you might have spent on the date on going to the game. Up to you.

    Just the fact you are contemplating that tells me you don't deserve her. I'd say cancel the date not to watch to Rockets, but to let her get a guy who cares more.
