OLB or ILB? He is a restricted free agent but a screw up by the Bears front office allows him to be picked up by another team w/o giving up any draft picks. He is still very young and a very capable linebacker and the only reasons y I'm thinking we haven't gotten him yet is that he wants too much money or we are waiting for Chicago to spend more money in free agency therefore making it harder to keep Holdman.
He's a weakside linebacker. The Bears play a 3-4 defense, so that makes him an outside linebacker. Here's a link to his bio & stats. http://www.chicagobears.com/team/playerpage.cfm?player_id=5772
Hometown? Alief, TX I think he went to Elsik though. Damn Elsik and their pro athletes. College? Texas A&M Not a bright one...eh?
Bears DO NOT play a 3-4. They play a base 4-3. However, they do use their players like they play a 3-4, in the sense that the DE's are one stoppers first, and the OLB's are the primary pass rush. The Bears use Traylor and Ted Washington as their 2 DT's up front, so it can't be a 3-4.
My mistake. I was looking at the linebacker positions & just put linebackers before the lineman. I would've been correct, if I had said they played an inverted 3-4 defense.
