I really don't listen to podcasts that often being a SportsTalk790 kinda guy but ever since crap guy came over to 790 I decided to look into it. I've listened to all of Zach Lowe's podcast. And know of the ringer pods. But that's about it. What are some other really good listens I should check out?
Nice I knew of this one but forgot. Listened to a couple weeks ago. Definitely will go listen to more.
for general NBA talk, Truehoop and Dunc'd On are good for Rockets talk, Locked on Rockets is probably the best 1
The Ringer has some really good podcasts. I like the NBA Show with Chris Vernon or the Bill Simmons Podcast
My main go-tos are Locked on Rockets from @The Cat Dunc'd on NBA from Nate Duncan (he can be biased towards GSW and CHI. Overally though, very good info.) Lowe Post from Zach Lowe True Hoop - that can be hit or miss. I don't like when it is a chuckle hut. Bill Simmons Podcast - When it is NBA related Ringer NBA Show - hit or miss, but unfortunately more miss for me. ESPN Lockdown - I tried this a few times and it didn't stick for me. Too many takes from Amin that I didn't like.
Yeah, it goes without saying the ClutchFans pod, with Hardisty and MK or Weiner are awesome. Another Pod I forgot to mention is the general "Locked On NBA" by David Locke. He can have some great guests on, including coaches and scouts. Lots of analytics too. Some good info.
Dunc'd on and Locked on are 100% bball analysis. I suggest you also listen to the general NBA locked on and not just the Rockets one. Most of the ESPN podcasts on the other hand like the ones with Windhorst Haberstrosh Amin are mostly jokes and a little rumours talk here and there. Some nba players podcasts are also interesting from time to time. JJ Reddick had some good ones with great guests that give some perspective on the life of an NBA players and their views. Road Trippin' with Frye and Jefferson I haven't listened to it yet but I plan to. They had Duncan as a guest. As for WOJ even though he has good guests most of his podcasts are vanilla. He doesnt' make hard questions and zero bball analysis. But he can get guests others can't. So that's something.
Bill Simmons except when he calls his dad or has celebs on. Zach lowe and woj are great NBA podcasts.
One of my favs to listen to, is the Tony Kornheiser show. It's pretty good. You can tell Tony loves being away from ESPN doing what he wants.
Think everyone here sorts of thinks alike. I started with the grantland youtube Jalen and Simmons NBA teams rankings which lead me Grantland. This in turn lead me to podcasts and people like Jalen and Jacoby, Zach Lowe. When Simmons Split from ESPN, lead me to Ringer. Also Truehoop and Lockdown have people to regularly guests on the Lowe Post so started listening to those too. Also the Vertical podcasts are great as well, especially close to the trade deadline or in general. With ESPN possibly struggling financially and Yahoo maybe cutting back on The Vertical, we might see a big shakeup again. We will see how that goes.
Most great ones have been mentioned already, but I'll add NBA A to Z with Sam Amick and the Red 94 podcast
All the ones mentioned already are pretty good but I just started listening to "Road Trippin' with R.J. & Channing" after reading this article on The Ringer (Which I usually don't bother with since that site is pure trash compared to what Grantland was...but that's a topic for another thread) . It's a really great podcast even though I never really cared for Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye. Both are pretty funny with their stories and jokes about stuff that goes on with the Cavs, their teammates- the starters and the bench players. The last episode I listened to had Deron Williams on. I lost it when Jefferson was telling a story about how he and the rest of the bench players cuss a lot while pumping up their teammates on the court and after a big play one game, they're all yelling encouragement and cussing and they hear Kyle Korver yell out "Way to beeeeee"! That had me cracking up!
