I believe this can work. D'antoni has last say on offense and defense coordinator has last say on defense. It's outside the box but I like it!

You will be upset if you choose D'Antoni. he didn't trust any players like you think. he has a lot of EGO. he can change his mind in every moment that he saw the game's in dangerous. he is not Stable and Consistent. And that would be Ruin the game like Knicks at the last season.

I don't like what McHale did at last 4 games but i would say he is better than D'Antoni.

Sadly, it doesn't quite work that way in basketball. You can't substitute players and whatever offense you run directly impacts your defense.
Certain defensive minded coaches (e.g. Thibodeau) actually won't run certain sets, because the floor balance wouldn't be ideal to getting back on defense.

George Karl or Jerry Sloan's offense & possibly defense too.

So pretty much a better version of the system you already have.

-Lin & Harden are two of the most elite P&R players in the league. You dont put P&R players that attack the basket in a system like the Princeton offense, just as you wouldn't put Hakeem the Dream or Shaq in Mike D'Antoni's offense that's built for small ball.

-With Jerry Sloan's P&R offense you really need a PF who can role to the rim, and also hit the open jump shot. Sort of like a young Amare or ... well... Karl Malone. The Rockets dont have that right now, but they have the guards to do it.

Why do you need a PF for Pick and Roll anway?

Why not pick and roll Lin and Harden? :)

If the players move the ball like they are supposed to and hussle up the court they have a ton of freedom in the current offensive set. This is about as free as Lin and Harden will get in most NBA offensive sets.

Anything other than pass Harden the ball and stand around and watch would be a solid upgrade for us. Maybe I have low standards.

LOL@ people who want D'Antoni's offense and hate ours. Take a close look at our offense. Everything we had been doing lately is eerily similar to MDA.
    - (attempted)PnR at the top of the key.
    - Spacing
    - Postitioning of players
    - Lots of open 3's

Here are the reasons why ours hadnt worked well:
    - No one is good at 'R' on PnR.
    - Can't knock down open 3's.

Until we can improve above, our offense will struggle, as defense will pack the paint to defend against our biggest offensive weapon: penetration of our backcourt to the basket!

Preferably one that doesn't reduce the PG to a spot up 3 point shooter like the one we have now.

We use a role-player 3-point specialist to run plays at the perimeter and tuck our PG who's a pick and roll specialist in the corner pocket.

We ISO Harden who's a play-making combo guard with great court vision.

We don't utilise our rookies despite them showing great promise and already having an extremely young team. This cf. the Spurs using Kawhi Leonard or Nuggets using Kenneth Faried or Knicks using Iman Shumpert with great success and they showed even less promise coming into the NBA.

how are we gona improve without a coach that knows how to train the right way?

Do you think coaches can just say "play P&R" or "play Princeton" and it will happen, my friend? this is the Magic cards game.

    Gosh
