Simple as that. I know, the N.F.L. has to be conservative after that whole Janet Jackson fiasco. But c'mon, Madonna? Maybe 10 years ago that sounds good in principle, but since when was lip-syncing and laser lights so hyped up? The halftime show is supposed to be an event, something that can share the stage with the S.B. (no pun intended.) Last year was pretty horrid as well. Do you guys think it can be saved? What did you think of it?

Didn't catch it live but it's all over twitter. Not sure why she thought that'd be cool. Just something else for the F.C.C. to pick at and over-discipline for.

Halftime show wasnt that bad. Cirque De Soliel people were okay.

When you see the the SB halftime shows list, the artists now are MUCH MUCH better than in the late 80s and back when it was just typical marching bands and theater troupes.

I remember it was "noteworthy" when freaking Chubby Checker and Gloria Estefan were the acts. Now its getting U2, Rollings Stones and The Who.

The halftime show is for the women -- this year did not disappoint.

She got herself headlines all over, which was exactly what she wanted to do.

SuperBowl has been using pre-recorded tracks for as long as I can remember. It's no big deal. Just playing it safe. That's why artists compensate with making it such a visual spectacle.

I thought Madonna was a horrific choice, but she won over a crap ton of people last night. SB Halftime isn't a fraction as broken as the Pro Bowl. It's fine.

    Who the heck is M.I.A?

I'd wish they just get rid of the halftime show and have the normal time stoppage b/w the half..

Are they supposed to have some up & coming indie choices, a mini-Coachella to headline "real" music?

Super Bowl is a COMMERCIAL business. So of course by doing that, those artists themselves would be going "commercial" and selling out.

So thats why its the popular acts who've already sold a ton of stuff. I don't think the Super Bowl crowd wants to see a dubstep revue or anything
