I'm not saying these guys start their own company I'm saying why would they "bend the knee" to Jordan and be under Jordan brand when they can ask to be under Nike. Look at Lebron he is under his own brand at Nike he is not under Jordan. I think these other players are just dumb and don't understand the importance of branding. You don't have to be the best player in the world to be under your own brand, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian have no discernable skills other than being pretty but their brand is so strong internationally. Lonzo Ball's brand is so strong he got ranked ahead of Melo despite not playing a single game against real NBA players. This is why his dad says crazy **** on tv, its because he understands the importance of branding. OTH you have Melo willingly surrendering his own brand and being just another model under Jordan, basically when Melo sells a shoe it is Jordan's brand that benefits, thats why Jordan's brand is still strong even after he retired 20 yrs ago. 8 yrs later Jordan will "retire" Melo's model and move on to someone else, and Melo won't have anything left. Meanwhile because Lebron worked under his own brand he can be like Jordan and continue working his brand even after he retired.
So what? They all belong under Nike anyway, if he is still receiving the same $$$ why be under the Jordan brand than be under Nike itself? Its like the diff between being your own boss vs being under someone else brandwise. The other poster said it best, he doesn't have his own brand like Lebron, Melo ended up just being a model for MJ.
