People didn't want him?? He signed for the minimum... I'd take him all day over Shump. He's a plus defender and solid 3pt shooter... Would've been a great add...
He can no longer move well enough to be an adequate defender and he can no longer put the ball on the floor. At this point he is nothing more than a veteran that can shoot 3's. I don't think he would have wound up with many minutes once his defense is taken into account.
because he is overpaid and sucks. I doubt we wanted him anyways, but the FO is probably getting desperate. I hope they don't do anything impulsive

This. Showing interest in virtually any player doesn’t mean you are willing to pay that player what they are worth. Mathews at the vet minimum? Yes please. Anything above that? Not really. It’s not like we were interested in Mathews getting significant minutes with us anyway - this falls in the “washed up player for the minimum who at least knows where to be on the court if you have to put them in the game”. Knowing where to be is almost as important as actually being able to play. That’s why guys like Nene, Iggy, and even Vince have hung around as long as they have. There is a certain playoff currency in a person sucking but at least not making self inflicted mistakes(dumb fouls, poor spacing in critical moments, bad defensive miscommunications, etc)...but just because it’s not Wes Mathews doesn’t kill us - there are several players who fall in that category in the league. Morey just moves on down the list and if the next vet player sucks bad enough you roll the dice with a Danuel House type of player who can actually play but still makes those dumb mistakes and hope that one offsets the other(and you pray you don’t have to give them critical playoff minutes).
