Remember the guy that Rockets would have gone after in that draft had Battier not been available? He's playing big minutes in OKC and doing very well. Maybe the Rockets scouts knew something after all.
Did they actually consider him at #8 or where they gonna trade down? He actually played pretty well when he first arrive in chicago, i know there was a lot of buzz about it, but for some reason he faded after a while, maybe because chicago had the 2 and 3 spots clogged up.
Of course the Rockets were right, what kinda question is that? Look at who we've been drafting lately. Morey and crew know what they are doing.
the suns are the ones that need draft help, i think they've lost out on rondo, rudy F, nate robinson, among others...they would be winning ring after ring if they evaluated their picks better.
oh yeah, they lost out on Deng as well, and by lost out I dont mean they skipped them in the draft, they actually drafted all these guys, only to trade them on draft day.
Yes they are looking real bad. Once Nash and Shaq go they will be a horrible team in search of a star player.
I agree they'll be looking bad, but they'll always have Amare. He still has a couple of years left in him.
Thabo wasn't worth the 8th pick.Playing on a weak team like OKC makes him look better than he really is. Ronnie Brewer is a flopper but he is a better player than Thabo. If the Rockets really had to choice anyone apart from Gay,it should have been him.Roy unfortunately was gone. I don't think that CD would have traded the 8th pick for Battier if Roy was available.
Safolosha's a good defender, which was probably the reason why the Rockets were interested in him. Remember JVG was the coach.
It would have obviously been a trade down, how they did last year. Rudy Gay was the value pick @ 8, and they would have traded his draft rights for the later pick of Sefalosha plus other considerations.
Battier's starting material...Sefalosha, while I like him, is the off the bench defensive version of Von Wafer. Not quite starting material, but a nice athlete.
I agree that Ronnie Brewer is better than Thabo Sefolosha. He's faster, finishes better, and plays better defense. He was even a star at Arkansas. Sloan is making a killing keeping a player as talented as him on the down-low. The thing that about Utah is that they are an extremely well-run team; the problem comes when they decide to go Cobra-Kai on the rest of the league by throw all sense of decency away just to win (hello Carlos Boozer).
Very apt description of the Jazz lol. I think your post basically sums up Jerry Sloan and his teams-he's like the really rich guy who still shoplifts stuff from the stores. Jazz is a really good team coached by a really good coach-they don't need to flop and punk everyone around to win games, but they still do lol.
