MDA just isn't gonna do it. Who's available? Can Tilman afford a good coach? I think this could be a great team with a component coach.
D’Antoni was horrific in this game. Dude still doesn’t understand that it helps to call time outs when your team is getting embarrassed.
The issue isn’t really MDA. The owner of the team wouldn’t pay his head coach over a difference of a few million dollars. As a result he had a lame duck coach that scared off the best defensive coaching candidates. The owner doubles down by also balking at the contract demands of the top assistants - so we get left with a mediocre defensive coach. The owner didn’t want to pay the luxury tax last year. So we end up trading assets to get rid of Ryan Anderson and we cannot get a good sized wing because of the luxury tax. This summer we struggle to add a legitimate 3/4 with length because we no longer have the assets needed to make a deal for one. Further we do not take back Patterson in the Westbrook trade so we don’t have salary matches for future trades. Ultimately in the NBA you get what you pay for in coaching and winning. The Rockets ownership has chosen to take short cuts.
Overall i still like Mike, but i really hate when he goes into panic mode and reverts to his old habits like going small no matter what...it's possible we would've lost this game anyway, but watching a guy like Lopez getting free points over and over again in the last 5 minutes because he was guarded by guards who had their head on his dick was i don't know, almost funny.
Maybe I'm overreacting but why not call a timeout to stop momentum and also to remove Eric Gordon from the game?
This guy just isn't the answer for any team with championship aspirations.... Never pushes the right buttons.
I don’t know how many components he will have but he will make less than 75% of the NBA head coaches. Same will go for the future GM after Morey is pushed out of “philosophical differences” after he is blamed for the decisions of ownership.
