This dude needs to make his presence known in game 7. He’s gotta br that defensive juggernaut. Should be swatting everything coming inside the paint. Also he’s gotta have that hustle and drive for rebounds. Gotta get physical and ugly with green.
Not his series, they foul him on purpose every time he touches it. Until he shoots FTs better he will be ineffective against the warriors. Start flying Ryan at center, pull Green out of the lane. DD
Look, Capela has hustled this entire series. Last night he had 15 rebounds in 29 minutes. But, the Warriors know how to defend him. That's not Clint's fault. It was stupid for the Rockets to continue to try to force feed the ball to Clint when he wasn't even open.
totally, he is so timid during the game, there are at least two times he has the ball in the paint (not under basket), and nobody sticks to him, he can just fake and lay it in, instead, he hold it for defender to come and pass it out, very disturbing.
He's not playing badly but it's just a bad matchup for him. Warriors are keyed in and not letting the ballhandlers have a clear view for the lobs. That said, he does a bit of Yao in him in that he has a habit of laying it in and being gentle when he needs to dunk the #!$% out of it.
The Rockets assistant coaches can call out the three seconds to the refs. Don’t just sit on the bench like a bump on a log. Be vocal. Do something.
Hopefully he shows up and gives us more than a measly 2 points and 1 block. There is no realistic scenario where we don't give him a maximum contract because of how the salary cap rules are setup. We cannot replace him with a better center at a max contract. So we're stuck with him, which is fine against 28 teams in the league. Unfortunately, the other team has been a thorn in our side for a few years and they're in our conference.
Capela looks like he gave almost everything to play against Utah/Minny. Otherwise, he'd be dominating as much as anybody on the team. Also, he needs to try and force fouls on Dray or Looney. When he gets swarmed in the paint, it just gets so frustrating to watch. A pass to the outside might be a welcome change on a Harden drive. Underrated thing is rebounds. We need Capela to at least do this well, and everyone to stay sharp on defense. This is going to be really hard to do.
This is why paying max dollars to capela would be a mistake. Only team that stands between us and a championship is the warriors and capela is useless against them with our small ball lineup. We can still beat any team besides the warriors without Capela. Need to spend that money on someone that will take us over the hump against warriors
It's not entirely fair to blame Capela for the excellent game-planning the Warriors have done to neutralize him on offense. The Warriors have completely shut out Capela on offense, preferring to give Harden a floater or maybe even a layup than give Clint a dunk. Rockets tried to counter by lobbing the ball high to Clint over ball pressure in the high P&R, but the GS hawks it almost every time. Green is determined to intercept every possible lob thrown Capela's way. GS has firmly stated there will be no alley oops, and other than our blowout in game 2, it has worked. For better analysis everybody should just read heypartner's excellent thread. My point is, Capela is doing his job on everything else - he's rebounding like a monster. A few of his shot blocks are poster worthy. He gives excellent effort when switched onto a wing on the perimeter. You can't just post a platitude like "more effort" to negate GS's plan to prevent lobs and passes to the roller.
