Denver gave him 67 million reports were that Morey was willing to offer him more. 67 million for an oft-injured dude with a PER that is less than Dalembert who is always healthy and on a much better contract. Denver clearly saw he wasn't worth it and so they traded him today. Talk about dodging a major bullet. I called it like many others at the time, no way you overpay for somebody like Nene.
I thought Nene and Gasol would have been a good combo but in all honesty i was never comfortable with giving him 65 million.
Never understood the Nene love fest, always seemed like an average player whose numbers looked better than they were due to limited touches.
Yeah, give me the Gasol/Nene trade back anyday. Oh, and he's not really "oft-injured." He's had a rough year so far, but he's a very good big man. Not great, but really good. That being said, I dont know that he's worth the max, but he hit the market at just the right time.
At first I liked Nene but then this happened and I'm thinking that nixed trade wasn't as bad as I thought.
Let the Morey lovers tell it. We would have been the favorites to win the WCF with him and Gasol. Jedi Morey, he plays mind tricks on a lot of fans.
It wasn't the fans who said the Rox would have been wcf contenders with nene+gasol, it was Chad Ford. I think I trust his opinion more than random posters in CF.
As badly as Nene played, Denver still managed to flip him for McGee, a high upside guy that the Rockets no doubt would like to have. He had a bad year due to lack of fitness coming back from the lockout. If Washington doesn't want him, I'd consider taking him off their hands.
Come on now, Morey says they stock the bench with high upside guys, what would we need another one for?
