Yes friends, the NBA season is over, no more Rockets games, no more playoffs! Over, finished. Now what? Astros? I think not, unwatchable. NFL? Not for awhile and then the awful, meaningless preseason. What will happen? I have nothing to look forward to! No games to watch! Will I have to "talk" to friends and family? Will I have to do repairs around the house? OMG! Outdoor summer fun? Are you kidding, its a 100 degrees out there. What are you going to do?
This used to be the time that the Astros would take us right into football and basketball season. Oh how I miss those days. The Texans are my last hope until the Rockets do something significant.
Draft....and then lockout hell. And it may be a loooooooooooong one. Absolutely the worst 2+ months of the year. Nothing but Tennis and Baseball and 100 degree heat. Criminal.
I am hearing that the NBA season won't start until January or February. Players and owners are oceans apart, the differences much wider than in Football. It is going to be a long 7 months.
How is it that the three big sports' collective bargaining agreements are all ending at the same time?! Baseball's not to next season I think? But even still, we could get to October/November/December and not have baseball (season over), basketball or football. WTF.
Well, the ratings for football where sky high as well. Good regular NFL games compete very well against baseball playoff games. No resolution thus far despite many months of negotiations. I heard on the radio (Vegas) this morning that NBA owners want players salaries to be cut for the next 3 years, ending with a whopping 40% cut on the third year. That is stiff.
The bad part is, if you're like me and despise baseball, there's no sports to watch or talk about. None. I always joke with co-workers we should get into the WNBA or curling or something.
You are preaching to the choir. I took my kids to the Vegas Summer League games last year, and they loved it. Guess we will have to find something else to do in July. Man, this is going to be a douchebag long off-season.
And no Tiger to make golf interesting either. If that happens the NCAA is about to make crazy amounts of money to not share with their players. Ironic that they're the ones not having a lockout.
Theres like 10 days till the draft. After that, no telling how long it will be until we might hear about some NBA action again. I hope the owners and Stern get their **** together quick smart.
