"Washed up" Chris Paul is the best clutch player in the NBA and will be in All-Star Game this year

Much better fit than Russ. But it's Hardens boy and Harden knew what needed to be done. So here to another playoff exit Jimmy!

I like CP3, but i seriousily doubt he makes it to the All Star game as a player. There are too many other PGs in the Western Conference that have a better chance of making it. I would like to see CP3 in the All Star game, but he has less than a 5% chance of making it. That's reality.:(

The only chance he has is if the coaches and players vote him in.

Id love to still have cp3 if we only had to play a 40 game season but the problem with him has always been health. and because of the fact that he has so much money remaining on his deal and is aging it was smart to move on from him plus he obviously clashed with James.

Chris Paul’s before and after stats with the Rockets speak to the fact that it’s much easier to take an also ran and raise it to the level of a playoff contender than to take a playoff team and raise them to championship contention. Much higher stakes to his shots on our team, more clutch situations and higher pressure as a result. Russell Westbrook on OKC this year would be at 30-10-10 again easily.

CP3 was always obviously the better player and better fit alongside Harden... however I get why they did the trade on its face..... UNTIL you mention there were FOUR first round draft picks involved in the trade to get him.

If the Rockets find a way to get to the finals the next three years it’s worth it. If not I would have rather dealt with CP3’s injuries to have a better player and kept the draft picks to rebuild at the same time with some late first rounders.

The thing I miss about the Rockets of old is that they just no longer seem to give a sh$& about farming out a future. It’s too focused on winning now on a team that isn’t really that good.

If he hadn't taken a significant step back in 2019 vs 2018, perhaps he wouldn't have been traded.

This may all be true. But the Thunder cannot seem to find a single taker in the league interested in CP3. They are eager to get rid of his contract. And no one, in spite of all his stats right now, is showing serious interest. Why is that? Well, it is obvious: 1) age and 2) contract. He has two more seasons left after this year making over 40M a year. His salary will cripple the best of teams, which is why no one wants him unless they get him with a heck of a lot of assets attached and the Thunder are in a rebuild and are not interested at this stage in giving up assets.

The assessment of most on this board came after watching CP3 for two seasons here and realizing that his health was no guarantee, that he could not gain a first step on a regular basis, and that at his age, these problems were probably going to get worse. Even with the Harden frustration, chances are if CP3 played through most of the season last year and didn't suffer the spate of hamstring injuries he did, he'd probably still be here. But that didn't happen. No use complaining about it imo.

He’s playing well but an allstar? In the west?

no way those days are over.

    he’s avg 16/4/6

    on 46/37/90 shooting

great season when you factor in his age but like I said that’s not Allstar numbers and theirs to many good guards in the west for him to get in.

but I loved Cp3 time here but his age and contract just made it time for him to go.

Harden, White Harden, Westbrook, Lillard, Mitchell are most likely over him, and would he even be the top in voting on his team over SGA, who is ballin?

When you consider Cp3 is 4 years older than WB then yes 2 low first round picks are worth it. Cp3 wouldnt even get in shape if he wasnt traded he is only great now cuz he wants to prove a point, last year when he got paid Cp3 spent all summer partying with Melo and started the season out of shape and injured.

Most people decrying the trade lack big picture thinking the NBA doesnt end this season it'll keep going 4 years from now.

Yeah, forgive my bluntness, but anybody who supported Paul for Westbrick for any reason other than potential chemistry issues/solutions is an unsalvageable idiot who has no understanding of either basketball or 6th-grade level math.

I dunno if Harden really just loved the idea of playing with WB, or if he really was having been with Paul, or if something else entirely was at play, but there should be no doubt in any reasonable person's mind that a healthy Paul was easily a better player, and that his game was going to age better.
