Our defense sucks, yeah that we a lucky shot to win it last night, it was the suckfest of D the prior 4/5 minutes that lost the game for us last night. Clarkson, Mitchell and Conley getting to the hoop at will the final period was the deciding factors. No 5 playing sure didn’t help...

What's staggering is that you think this has been "overlooked"

Nowhere near the same size, not even close.

    Gary Clark - 6'6 6'10 wingspan 25 yrs

    Bruno Caboclo - 6'9 7'7 wingspan 24 yrs

One was former first rounder, the other was undrafted FA.

Little bit of a reach with your analogy.

    Still hope for Harkless.

    And Bolden.

Both players can improve shooting and defense. And length to improve rebounding and rim protection.

Even if you are a poor 3 point shooting teams, its not the volume of threes that are making that defense worse. I have no idea why you guys think a bunch of mid rangers is gonna magically make our overall net rating better, its not.

Rockets need to upgrade House IMO. His lack of length is not a good complement to Tucker who cannot get any lift so neither are much use when recovering to protect rim when beat on perimeter.

House is a back up in this system, if no more additions then I hope to the heavens that Bruno beats him out to not necessarily start but to close out tight games.

Still hoping for Harkless, MKG and Bolden.

I know a lot of fans do not want to hear it right after getting Covington but I agree with you. There are some limitations to Westbrook and Harden defensively, so the Rockets really need to have a very good defensive 3. That can be Covington but he is really playing the 4 at this point. We may not get that person this season. It is why targeting someone like MKG makes a lot of sense unless the Rockets are not impressed with his defense.

As for House, the Rockets were active kicking his name around in deals to see if they could package him with a #1 to get the type of player they wanted and it just did not happen.

To play small you have to have GOOD DEFENDERS. Right now we have only 2 that play consistently (maybe 3 if you count rivers). Mclemore is atrocious, house is bad, thabo is old as dirt and our stars are bad more often then not.

I never proposed shooting mid rangers. I like our system. I’m just saying we aren’t good enough period. If you can’t shoot the ball, the offense will struggle. At this point the best way for them to improve is probably really focusing on defense. We have some players that haven’t reached their full potential on defense.

The Rockets wanted long wing defenders because of the issue with Westbrook and Harden. They got a very good one with Covington but they really need two of them. At this point Covington is primarily playing the 4 and House is not a good defensive 3 so against two players (Tucker/Covington) are being asked to cover for the sins of three others.

I suspect that the perimeter defense by Westbrook and Harden will be cleaned up some. This season when something has become an issue like turnovers, they have cut down on them. When Eric Gordon comes back we may see him shift to guarding 2's and let Harden guard 3's and even 4's in some match ups with Covington guarding 3's.

When the Paul deal was made a lot of people were concerned about Westbrook and Harden sharing the ball, or turnovers or spacing. The biggest problem from day 1 was going to be on the defensive end.

Most interesting part of vid was the Iggy what if.

As much as I love Covington, if Rockets acquired:

    6'6 Iggy
    6'8 Brandon Clarke
    6'8 Josh Jackson
    6'9 Bruno

That probably costs more than Capela and 1 FRP (Capela, Nene, Green, House, 2 FRP + SRP?) but would have solved a lot of defensive, offensive, playmaking, length, rebounding and youth issues.

Rockets didn't beat any top team (title contenders) in playoffs either...

Rockets needed to add players to the rotation, not swap players in and out. Had avenues to do so. They’re still not a deep team.

But hey...Tilman saved money, so mission accomplished.

Warriors small line up was not small at all... it had almost 7 feet tall KD who can block shots, legitimate Power Forward Draymond Green , and athletic Iguodala.

The system is obviously flawed then. If you are going to chuck up 50 3 point shots a game you better be hitting them at a good clip. 31-33% won't cut it and it's showing this year.
