Waiver Trade Deadline (Potential help to solve the triage problem?)

As much as I think his bat would've been good here, I'm kind of glad we didn't get him. There's enough of a PR nightmare with Osuna. We don't need to add another PR nightmare in the outwardly homophobic Murphy.

We didn't necessarily get "beaten". We likely made claims and then the other team pulled them back. There hasn't been much movement so it's not like a team with a higher waiver priority has gotten guys Luhnow might've targeted.

Where will he play? Astros have a fringe MVP candidate at 3B. They have a potential August player of the month at DH/1B. He has played 5 more games in the major leagues at 1B than I have. He has never played in the outfield. He has been on the 60 day DL since late May.

 

Will he even stay healthy? I'd rather go after Smoak or Jones.

 

DH. And rotate 1B and 3B

 

Yeah, not at all opposed to doing a DH/1B/3B rotation, also it can involve giving Correa rest and moving him down the lineup, he's been terrible since coming back from the DL. Not to sound negative or like I'm too short-sighted but offensively, I think he's actually been a negative since his return. I really wonder if there is still something wrong, or if maybe he's just not having a good year.

 

Correa has been good on defense. Shortstop defense is really important.

 

Voters is 11 for 80 since comming off the DL. Bregman could slide over to SS. And Donaldson could play 3B. When Correra has time off.

 

Maybe Correa needs another DL stint. Bregman to SS, Marwin to 3rd and Tucker to LF

 

Not to mention...Toronto can't wait to get rid of him. We've already take on one of their outcasts this season (though much different circumstances). I don't see us taking on another one when there's no where for him to play.

Pretty sure Bregman should be playing every day until the division is clinched. Also, Donaldson is not a first baseman. Also, they have a perfectly competent DH at the moment. Also, Donaldson is just now eligible to come off the 60 day DL.

 

I’m ok with adding Donaldson, but they better not give up anything of value. He’s just as likely to stay hurt or come back slumping as he is to come back and be productive in October. I’d rather add Granderson.
