i spent a few hours in close contact with dozens of them at the 'Tiger Temple' near bangkok a few years back (before it got shut down). i think as long as you show no fear, they stay peaceful. although the head trainer there actually kept muttering to himself that they were psychotic animals and he'd chosen the wrong profession

 

Fwiw, they had the Season Ticket Holder Xmas party there beginning of the month, never been, I enjoyed it, just wish the players were there too but they had that late night game vs. the Blazers the night before

But it should be a crime that they keep those tigers locked up in a tiny ass space in that garbage aquarium.

It makes no sense.

Get rid of the tigers and make your aquarium not the worst aquarium I’ve ever been to.

we did that, but only with the adolescent tigers

but really, you could tell a difference in how they behaved with a stranger who was hesitant and not so confident, vs someone who walked right up and looked them in the eyes without flinching

 

I believe you. My friend said exactly that. The keeper almost panic when the tiger started making that warning sound, but let her be after seeing she didn't even flinch and was all smile.

I would hate to spend my days off at a social event with my boss. I like my boss, but just not how i want to spend my days off from work.

It was a huge improvement over the STM holiday parties the last few years. Casino parties in the past were fun too. Grandkids enjoyed the ferris wheel ride, carousel, white tigers, petting the animals and the brunch was one of the best. Tip the hat to Fertitta.

Downtown Aquarium reveals $4 million tiger exhibit expansion

HOUSTON – The Downtown Aquarium is planning a massive renovation for one of its most popular exhibits.

The tiger habitat underwent a $4 million makeover to add a new outdoor space. This move has been many years in the making and is a part of the aquarium’s mission to provide the best quality of care and welfare of its animals. The 35,000 square foot expansion houses four tigers.

Before the upgrades, the tiger habitat was the center of some controversy.

The Animal Legal Defense Fund filed a federal lawsuit under the Endangered Species Act, claiming the four tigers who have been at the aquarium since 2004 had not been outside for more than 13 years. The group put the lawsuit on hold when the aquarium began planning for the outdoor space.

The new exhibit opens to the public Friday at 10 a.m.
